Glancing up at the clock Tyler shifts from one foot the other. He was waiting for a particular customer to come in, he would come in every day and sit by the window order a coffee and sit with his laptop working.
But today he was late and this made Tyler nervous as he was always on time. The bell above the door chimes and Tyler hold his breath hoping for it to be him.
The blue-haired boy walks towards the counter shaking his umbrella a goofy smile on his face."You will not believe the day I've had Bob ."He giggled at the barista.
"Yeah, it's not like you to be late Ethan." Bob laughed.
Ethan looks up at the clock his smile widens "Ten minutes doesn't count as late.
Ethan smiles kindly as he passes Tyler, making his breath hitch in his throat leaving a small lump that Tyler try's in vain to swallow. Tyler smiles back not realising how dopey he looked until he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror hanging across the room.
'Pull yourself together .' He scolded himself.
He looks over to see Bob shaking his head chuckling to himself.
Tyler hadn't worked at the Cafe very long but everyone including Bob was already like family.
Tyler remembers the first day and Bob must have noticed Tyler watching Ethan, he had felt embarrassed at first but Bob just smiled and patted him on the back and simply said: "You'll never know if you don't take the risk.".
"What if he isn't into me?" Tyler whispered terrified Ethan would hear.
"I've known Ethan for a while and let's just say you're his type."
But Tyler wasn't ready just yet to take the chance just yet his fear rejection still fresh from those around him that weren't as accepting as he'd hoped.
"I'll get my usual thanks, Bob." Ethan smiles before taking his usual place at the table by the window pulling his laptop from its bag and placing it on the table.
Moments later Bob calls out. "Hey Tyler can you take this to Ethan, I have a few orders to do and I'm swamped."
" Sure."Walking to the station picking up the coffee.
"Go get him, tiger." Bob smiled patting Tyler on the back.
Tyler's heartbeat raced as he walked towards the blue-haired boy, he took a deep breath trying to stabilise his heart which felt like a hummingbirds wings.
He sits the coffee down on the coaster and without looking Ethan's hand reaches out to grab it, his hand brushing Tyler's making Tyler jump pulling his hand back and falling into the booth behind him.
Ethan's eyes dart up at the noise of the utensils clanging to the floor. "Are you alright?" He reaches out to help him up.
"Yeah, thanks." Tyler's face now as red as a beetroot.
As soon as their hand touched Tyler felt the electrical spark between them.
"Hi, I don't think we have been properly introduced, I'm Ethan." He smiled as his hand shoots out ready for Tyler take it.
Tyler extended his hand "Tyler." Feeling the surge of electricity run through him again.
"Nice to meet you Tyler." He beamed.
"You too," Tyler mumbles picking the cutlery from the floor. Before rushing back to the kitchen.
He stood by the sunk cursing himself at his clumsiness.
By the time he composed himself and returned to the dining area Ethan had left.
"Don't worry." Bob smiled "He'll be back tomorrow."
Walking to the booth he laid down clean cutlery when a piece of paper on the table beside him caught his eye.
About to throw it out his name stopped him.
It read 'Tyler it was nice to meet you, here is my number I hope you will call me. Ethan.'
He was beaming as he walked to Bob.
"Why do you look like the cat who just ate the canary?" Bob teased.
Tyler just smiled as he showed Bob the piece of paper.
"I knew it." Bob smirked, "I knew you two were meant to be, not to big note myself but I'm good with these sorts of things."
Tyler shook his head "Sure Bob."
The rest of the day was long and by the time Tyler had gotten home he'd put the whole Ethan thing in the back of his mind.
Collapsing into bed he closed his eyes drifted off to sleep.
He dreamed of Ethan and what it would be like to be wrapped in arms and what it would be like to kiss delicate lips of his.
Waking up Tyler looked forward to going to work more then he had before. And then he remembered it was his day off.
Remembering the number in his work jacket he hurries to grab it.
He sits by the phone hesitating, nervous.
'Just do it.' He mutters to himself before entering the number.
It rings a few times before someone answers.
"Hello?"
E..Ethan?"
"Speaking, who is this?"
"T...Tyler, from the cafe."
"Oh hi there." His voice suddenly cheerful.
"I'm glad you called,!listen I have a free day, Would you like to go out somewhere?"
"Umm..sure?"
The laugh at the other end of the phone was cute making Tyler imagine the smile that went with it.
"Cool, I'll meet you at your work and we'll go from there."
"Sure." Tyler calmly said trying to hide his excitement.
Going to his closet Tyler tried on half of his wardrobe before deciding on a casual t-shirt and jeans.
Waiting for Ethan Tyler nervously paced the floor.
"You keep going." laughed Bob "you're going to wear a hole in the carpet.
Ethan walked through the door dressed also in plain black shirt and jeans carrying a large basket.
"Hi." he smiled his green eyes sparkling.
"Hi." Tyler smiled wishing the butterflies would go away.
"I thought we'd go on a picnic if that's ok."
"Sounds great. Perfect day for it." Glancing out the beautiful sunny day that awaited them.
"Ok, you two have fun." Bob waved as we headed off.
The picnic was perfect and it was the first of many dates that came and went.
(A/N so sorry for this story and lack of ending. I have insomnia at the moment and my brain is running on empty but it gave me something to do. )
