Compared to this: I had a feast for every meal, I was clean, I worked less for more, and most of all- the betrayals of my friends seem like nothing. Living on Earth I didn't realize it, but I was blessed. Let me go back to when it started. It was a day just like any other.
The day began with me looking into the eyes of my creepy sister, just like always. Her nearly non-existent clothing revealing far too much for a girl her age. Anyone at any age, in fact. She woke me up whining about her dog and returned to her room to get another hour or two of sleep. I took the excited Chiba outside to let loose some energy before getting ready for the day. Of course, my father had already gone off to work by now.
The previous night I had been up late studying so when my sister came downstairs with sleepy eyes. I got mad and yelled at her for not taking care of her own dog. Her excuses were the same as ever and she, as always, wasn't willing to see my side of the fight. I left without making breakfast and arrived early at school.
The school was quiet, but the doors were open so I made my way to the classroom to get in some extra studying before class. I passed the people in the halls and other rooms, as I didn't know any of them. In my own classroom I found only one other person.
Her name I think was Kat. She was in a few of my classes but I hadn't talked to her much. She greeted me happily; She was a talkative person just as her outgoing appearance suggested. I mean that in every possible way. Her hair was bright, eyes big, cheeks red, and she always seemed to be smiling and laughing at something. She was almost the opposite of me. In my case, I'm told that I'm not easily understood. My expression doesn't change much.
"You're Anna, right?" She asked as I entered the room
"Yes." I slide into my assigned seat next to the door and pull my backpack open as she walks over to me.
"It's rare for anyone else to be so early!" She smiled brightly at me as she energetically tried to make conversation. She stopped in front of my desk and held out her hand, "I'm Kathryn!"
I would think so. After all, it is school. What kind of high school student enjoys school? I glanced at the clock, there was about forty minutes until school started. I gulped against my hungry tummy- I probably should have grabbed a cookie or something.
"I came early to study for the test." I accepted her hand shake. As I did, a heat filled my palm, making my fingers feel cold and icy. I stared at the growing light between our hands and tried to pull away when Katheryn tightened her grip.
"Too bad you won't have a chance to make that test." The frightening words she said didn't match the pure glee on her cute face.
