Can't Help Falling In Love

Inspired by "Can't help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley

"We have to go and watch it!! Daniel and Kathryn are starring in it!! They are my OTP. They are so cute together!!" I fangirled over the thought of watching their latest movie.

"I know right!!! Let's watch it tomorrow!!" my friend, Ella, said just as excited as I was, just not as loud.

"Okay, it's a plan! See you tomorrow then," I said waving bye to her.

The next day, I woke up to my mom yelling "Wake up! Let's go outside today! Hurry up!"

Not opening my eyes, I reached in the general area where my phone was. My hand hit the edge of the rectangular phone and I wrapped my fingers around the With sleep still in my then opened eyes, I turned on my phone.

10:07AM.

I felt lazy, but I knew I would get in trouble if I didn't get out of bed. So with all the my willpower and whatever energy I had, I got out of bed and tumbled my way to the front of my closet.

What should I wear? After standing and staring at my closet for what seemed like an eternity, I chose what to wear, a white crop top with the words "Stay true to you", high-waisted shorts over black leggings, and a filipino flag jacket.

After getting ready to head outside into society, I put my black converse on and headed for the car. I clicked on my seatbelt, rested my head back, and stared out the window until I fell asleep.

"Wake up. We're here. Let's go," I heard my mom say as the door opened. I unclicked my seatbelt and stepped outside. I looked around and noticed that it was the movie theater I was going to watch the movie with Ella. With excitement, I rushed to the line to buy two tickets. One for me and one for Ella.

After waiting in line and purchasing the tickets, I unlocked my phone to text Ella that I bought the tickets.

Me: Hey fam!! I bought the tickets!!!

Ella:Ok AHH im so excited to watch ittt its gonna be soo cute

Me: AHHHHHH IM CRYING THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER

Ella: IKRR hey see u later i gotta do something rn Byeee

Me: Yea sure thing see yaaaa BYEEE

"Take my hand, take my whole life too, for I can't help falling in love with you," I sang non-stop as I wait outside at a table nearby the theater entrance. I glanced at my ticket.

Seat G13

6:00PM

I turned on my phone.

5:47PM

"It's almost time for the movie!!!," I thought, only to have my thoughts interrupted by a vibration of my phone. One text message after another.

"Ella: Hey im sorry. I dont think i can make it"

"Ella: I just threw up"

"Ella: I'll tell u if i can still go but im not sure if i still can"

"Ella: I'm sorry if i dont go"

"Ella: we were looking forward to it too"

I stared at my phone for a minute letting it all sink in. Sadness washed over me for that would be the first time watching a movie at the theaters alone.

I replied saying "Its fine Ella. U should rest. We can watch it some other time. U go rest. I'll tell u about it on Monday."

"I've never been to the theaters alone before. I have my phone in case of an emergency, but this is slightly terrifying," I thought, "But oh well, there's a first for everything. Time to buy popcorn."

"Next in line," I heard my cue to walk, "Hi, what would you like today?'

" I'd like a medium popcorn and a large drink please," I said, proud I didn't stutter.

"Okay, would that be all?"

"Yes," I said handing in a ten dollar bill, "Thank you."

I collected my change and waited for my popcorn and drink. Once I had one in either hand, I was off to theater 7.

It didn't occur to me, but I soon stumbled upon the problem of how I was going to open the door. It was a pull door.

Well dang it. I have to wait for someone to open the door so I can get-

Again, my thoughts were interrupted by someone opening the door from the other side. I stepped back to let the person open the door. Luckily, the person was kind enough to hold open the door for me as I quickly made eye contact, smiled, and walked through.

Seat G13. G13. Where is G- I found it. I walked to seat G13. I sat down with a sigh. Ella wasn't there for me to fangirl with or to hit when the feels hit me.

I reclined the seat as far as it could and tried to become as comfortable as possible. With a few minutes left until the movie started, I began to eat the popcorn. The movie didn't start but with no one to talk to, it was the only thing I could have done.

Zoning out, I didn't notice anyone sitting next to me until I heard, "Hey beautiful."

I instantly turned my head towards whoever said that for I recognized that voice. Nico.

Wait, was he the one who opened the door for me earlier? Did he just call me beautiful?

I smiled at him, and he smiled back. Before I could say anything back, the light dimmed and the movie began.

Fully focused on the movie, I ate my popcorn and occasionally took a sip of my soda.

"But what if I don't want a divorce. What if I want to stay married?" Daniel "Dos" said, and I freaked out. With feels hitting me, I began to hit the person next to me.

"Oww," I heard in the direction I was hitting.

I looked over and realized Ella wasn't sitting next to me. I immediately stopped hitting him. [HAA HITTING ON HIM GET IT]

I apologized and reminded myself not to hit anyone. I was doing okay with my reactions until it came to the sad parts.

"He has a blood clot in his brain. If we perform surgery, he may live a normal life or die during the process," the doctor on screen said as Kathryn cried.

I started crying as well. Tears started rolling down my face and my breathing became quiet but heavy. I wanted to close my eyes to let the tears fall, but I was too focused on the movie.

More tears fell until I felt a hand wipe them away. That hand belonged to Nico.

Shocked, I pulled the hands away from my face, but much to our surprise, I didn't let go of his hand.

I assume he took this as a sign to reposition his hand to make it so our hands were intertwined.

My eyes met his. We smiled at each other. I wiped more tears off my face and proceeded to lay my head against his shoulder. We stayed like that until the end of the movie.

After watching “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, I instantly wanted to write about it. It was such a good movie! 10 out of 10 for sure ♡
