Chapter 5: Fiona's Secret

"Marie, you know as well as I that Scourge cannot take care of our daughter the way she needs to be taken care of. She needs somebody that will take care of her even when times get tuff, and I don't think that Scourge can be responsible enough for the job," he said.

Marie just gave him a nod in disagreement. "You aren't even giving him a chance, he really loves her, and if you actually gave him the time of day you would see it too."

"Marie my mind is made up, all I want is the best for our daughter and he is not the best, I'm sorry."

Marie couldn't believe it, he was always pig headed but he never let it affect their daughter. "Fine, but if our daughter ends up not speaking to you you'll know why," she said as she walked out of the room.

The king then took a breath and told himself, "It's for the best."

In Fiona's room, Scourge and her were sharing all kinds of life stories to each other, and they were having the time of their lives.

"So I took the horse from the stables and ended up crashing right where I started from, man was that embarrassing," he told her while laughing hysterically.

"Wow Scourge you're a crack up, ha ha ha ha ha."

"Ya, well I try," he said with a smirk.

Fiona just looked at him and blushed until she heard a knock come from the door. Fiona quickly opened the door to reveal her mother completely out of breath and looking very upset.

'Fiona dear I did the best I could do but your father won't listen to reason. I tried everything, I'm so sorry dear, I really am," she then leaned in and hugged her daughter tightly and Fiona did the same gesture until they pulled apart.

"It's ok mom it's just dad is so obstinate and overprotective that he can never just let me be happy. I just wish he could see what I do in Scourge."

As soon as she said his name Scourge came up to the door and bowed his head, "Madame."

Marie looked towards him and gave him a hug as well, "You are the best I could ever hope for for her, I just wish it could be different," she told him sincerely.

Then Fiona spoke up, "Ya, I wish too but apparently, life just doesn't go how you plan sometimes, Right now I hate dad, because the one thing I ask for he interferes and doesn't let me have it. I have had it with him, I don't care what he wants if I want to marry Scourge I can damn right do it and I don't care what he has to say." Then suddenly out of nowhere the feeling in Fiona's legs faded away and she collapsed. "Mom I can't feel my legs again," she said with a worried expression on her face.

Marie bent down to her daughter quickly and kept telling Fiona to calm down. Then Scourge started to get worried and asked, "What is happening? What is wrong with her?"

Fiona's mom looked at him and said, 'She has a rare muscle disease and sometimes it affects her legs to a point where she can't even feel them, so could you please hurry and get the doctor, she's down the hall about ten doors down.

Scourge nodded and ran down the hall to get the doctor. Once he did they moved Fiona to the hospital wing of the castle where she just laid on the bed with the white sheets over her, the doctors just had to wait it out but Fiona finally passed out after a while.

Both Fiona's parents were there including Sally and Scourge.

Marie looked away from her daughter's sleeping form and glared at her husband. "You should be really angry with yourself, she got worked up because of your stubbornness, and another thing if the boy didn't care I really doubt he would be hear right now." Marie walked away and towards her daughter's bed beside Scourge who looked really worried for his lover.
