As they have silently exited the room, John looked up and saw twenty soldiers pointing their rifles at John and the pirates. John was about to raise his cutlass when Ronaldo held his hand.
“Let go of the blade John, its over” Ronaldo said.
“But, I….you’re right. I am sorry if I failed to repay your debt” John said, as he dropped his cutlass and raised his hands in the air.
“Don’t feel grim laddie. We almost made it, if only we had a better plan” Ronaldo said, as he too threw his cutlass to the ground and raised his hand.
Then suddenly a British admiral emerged from the group of soldiers and slowly walked towards the group of pirates. His every step on the wooden floor made everyone’s heart skip a beat in fear of what is the fate that shall befall upon them.
“You thought you can outsmart me? Admiral Alexander Cornelius, one of the strongest admirals in the Queen’s navy! You are all arrested and is hereby sentenced to firing squad” the admiral said as he pointed at John.
“And as for you, for leading this mutiny, and for impersonating an official in the navy you are hereby sentenced to walk the plank. You think you’re so tough eh?” Alexander said as he looked at John in the eye, grinning like a madman.
“Well, you got me, but still you haven’t proven to everyone that you’re the greatest among this parts Admiral Alexander” John said as he smiled back at the admiral.
“Oh, am I being challenged? I’ll tell you what smart guy, if you happen to beat me in a duel, which I haven’t for your information, I may let your crew of pirates go. But if you loose, all of you will walk the plank. Do you agree to this terms, or are you afraid to prove your worth you vile scum” Alexander said as he threw a cutlass towards John. John didn’t mutter a word and just caught the cutlass. They walked to the center of each other and started to attack each other. As blades dance with one another, John started to sweat because of the multiple guns pointed at him. He thought that even if he wins, he will still die by the gunshots. They went on and on with their blades flashing and striking with one another.
“You’re not as stupid as you seem insolent dog” Alexander said as he slashed to the left.
“Well if you were compared to me then that is the case” John mocked Alexander as he countered with a dash to right.
“How dare you mock me in front of my own crew you imbecile” Alexander said as he lunged towards John with great accuracy.
“Because you’re too afraid to fight without your petty crew behind you holding your skirt for you ingrate” John said as rolled out of the way, avoiding what could have been a fatal lunge. Then suddenly Alexander looked at John, the sense of fear was lost in his eyes. Alexander noticed that John was smiling, and that he was afraid no more.
“What happened to you? You don’t seem scared to die anymore? Have you already accepted your fate?” Alexander said as he quickly delivered an array of strikes on John.
“You talk too much, why don’t you just die already” John said, as he span around, and stood at the edge of the ship.
“Hah, you cornered yourself. It is as if you are going to kill yourself” Alexander said, as he saw John stand on the edge of the ship. Alexander quickly rushed towards John’s location and stole his sword from his hand. Alexander then smirked, as he held two swords.
“Goodbye, its been a pleasure to kill you” Alexander said, as he pointed both blades at John.
“Well, this is not over” John said.
“Since, I am going to kill you, I might as well know your name” Alexander said, as he pointed both blades closer to John.
John quickly stepped back and fell to the water. As the water flashed, Alexander threw both swords to the ground, and said.
“Its over, kill every single one of those pirates” Alexander shouted, as he wore his Admiral hat. Then he suddenly heard a very strong shout.
“I say its over, when I say its over”
It was John’s voice. Then suddenly, it rained fire on Alexander’s ship. The soldiers were shocked on what was happening as metal balls of flame falls from the sky. Then suddenly from the edge of the ship rose a man with his beard burning, filling the sky with red, striking fear in the heart of every crew on board of the forsaken ship with his eyes black as coal. He opened his mouth with a thundering voice. The crew was too shocked to move, frozen on the spot, traumatized with fear.
“I am Edward Teach, the dreaded Blackbeard” he said, as he raised his sword, hooks then latched on the edge of the ship. Pirates invaded the ship. Ronaldo and his crew quickly picked up the swords that they have previously dropped and joined in the fray. As the fight lingers on fire engulfs the ship.
Meanwhile in the captain’s quarters, Admiral Alexander stands as he surveys the ship and starts to signal an abandon ship. He was trembling with fear for he did not know what to do in that dire moment. He realized that during the fight, when he noticed John started to become more fearless, he realized that John had seen the Edward Teach’s ship closing in. Since it was still dark and foggy, Alexander’s men didn’t notice the ghostly ship approach them.
As he was rushing out into his small boat, he realized that he never knew John’s name. Then as he was going down on his boat, there waiting was John sitting on the boat.
“I forgot to introduce myself, the name is John Harrison” John said, as he pointed his cutlass at Alexander.
“You go climb back up that ship” John said to Alexander. Alexander had nothing else to do but follow him so he slowly climbing back up. As John was bringing Alexander to the main mast of the ship, Alexander quickly drew his blade and slashed at John hitting his right arm. John’s arm started to bleed; his cloth shirt became stained with soaking red blood.
“Do you feel the sting, when my metal blade licked your arm? Painful isn’t it?” Alexander said as he licked the blood on the blade.
“You have completely gone insane Alexander” John said as he dropped his blade as he held his bleeding arm.
“You, I blame you for making me loose everything, my ship, my crew, my honor and my dignity” Alexander shouted as he charged towards John while waving his sword in the air like a madman.
John then quickly saw Ronaldo. Ronaldo threw a sword at John.
Then Alexander stopped running suddenly. He froze, with his sword raised high in the smoke filled air. Then, a soft whisper was heard. “I am sorry” John whispered to Alexander. Alexander had charged towards John’s sword. Alexander coughed up blood and whispered “I forgive you”. With that, his dying word, he quickly fell. But John caught him, before he can touch the ground. A true gentleman.
“Ay Johnny me boy, everything is good here” Edward shouted at me, while he was putting the fire out of his beard with a small mug of water. As I looked around, I saw Alexander lying in a pool of his own blood. The ships deck was littered with dead bodies. The smell of blood was in the air, mixed with smoke and burning wood. Also, the crew of the Avenger is all tied up to the main mast. Ronaldo was carrying out the barrels of wine from the ship cellar, and began drinking. To John’s surprise, Edward ordered that the pirates release all of the captured crew and that they all drink and celebrate with one another. A grand party was held aboard that ship that lasted until morning. As I sat on the wooden deck, even though I heard the mighty laughing and singing of both crew and pirates alike, I wondered when will I ever get back home. Then, Ronaldo came and gave me a mug of brandy.
“Here, you earned it” Ronaldo said, as he offered me the brandy.
Then suddenly a bolt of lightning quickly struck the sea causing a small whirlpool to develop. I realized that it was another worm hole. I told Ronaldo and Edward, who I later found out was actually Blackbeard, that I had to go now. Ronaldo gave me his prized sword. Blackbeard gave me his hat. I thanked them for everything. As I was lowered to the small dinghy boat, I saw that even the most ruthless, and bloodthirsty of pirates had a heart. As my boat slowly disappeared into the whirlpool, I saw both pirates and the crew waving at me. I waved goodbye, and then as I slipped into the new worm hole that had just appeared everything blacked out……again.
