Chapter 30: Soon Enough

Lynsey’s POV:

“Valentine’s Day is so stupid.” I said, looking over at Jen, Kimmy, and Paris.

“Yeah.” Paris said.

“It’s just an excuse for couples to be even more annoying than usual.” Kimmy replied.

“I know!” I sighed, scratching at the itchy ACE bandage on my leg.

“I’ve already seen like 8 couples making out in the halls, like, No. Ew.” Jen cringed.

“Same!” Paris concurred.

“So gross.” I scrunched my nose.

“What’s so gross?” Alex walked in and sat on my desk.

“Valentine’s Day.” I said.

Alex started to laugh, “You know why they sometimes call Valentine’s Day V-Day?”

I looked at her and already began to laugh quietly, pretty sure I knew where she was going with this.

“Because lots of people lose their V-Card on V-Day.” she said.

Kimmy burst into laughter and nearly fell out of her desk chair.

“We have a school full of sluts.” Paris shook her head, so her long, blonde hair swayed back and forth, trying to hide her laugh at Alex’s dirty-minded joke.

“Okay everyone, find your seats.” Mr. Zanardi walked into the classroom.

I looked over at Ryan and mentally, or maybe I really did, sighed, I really hate Valentine’s Day.

“Get a fucking room you know!” Aaron screamed as he helped me carry my books to my locker after class.

“Yeah! I know!” I said heading to my locker, “I would prefer to not see your tongue down your girlfriend of two days throat, thank you.”

Aaron laughed, “Yeah.”

I put in my combination and got my books and bookbag.

I closed my locker and Aaron was leaning on the locker next to mine, he was staring over at me intentively.

“Ready?” I asked.

“No.” he shook his head, still leaning on the locker.

“What?” I laughed.

He looked over at me seriously, “Are you ever going to talk to Ryan again?”

I rolled my eyes, “I don’t want to talk about this here.”

“Fine.” he said, “Then follow me.”

We went to his locker and then out to the parking lot.

He turned to me, “So, are you?”

“I don’t know Aaron.” I sighed, looking away from him.

He looked at me, “Look… Ryan didn’t…” he started then stopped.

“Didn’t what?” I asked, turning my attention back to him.

“Not yet.” Aaron said staring at the pavement, “You’ll never believe me. We are so close, I’m not going to ruin it.”
