Chapter five

A month later, a women came by found Edward. She took him to a farm with a kid named Bryce. Bryce was Poor and worked for money.

" Work!" the lady screamed.

Bryce kept on working while The lady stook Edward on a wooden Bar for a scarecrow. She nailed him on there with pins.

Every time Bryce worked, he stared at Edward. He took the back of his hand and swiped his nose each time.

The women told Bryce to work more harder.

So, he did.

One day, Bryce stared at Edward again. He took Edward out of the pins and took him to a little hut where lived his mean dad, his sick sister, and him.

He wanted to give Edward to his sick little sister because the dad stepped on her favorite doll and broke it on purpose. His dad rarely comes home because of his work.

When he got home, He saw his sister sleeping. He tried to wake her up to tell her that he got her a present.

Finally he woke her up and told her " Close your eyes Shelly, I have a prize for you!"

She closed her eyes and Bryce took Edward and put it on her bed that she was in.

" Now open" Bryce said.

Shelly opened her eyes and gasped.

" A rabbit! A rabbit! Thank you, Bryce!" Shelly said happily.

" I will call him Jangles!" Shelly said again.

" Now eat your beans, you don't want it too cold" Bryce said.

Shelly Ate her beans and finished. She cuddled Edward, Swinging him side to side.

Shelly hummed a song so beautifully that Edward loved it. Edward loved to be with Shelly and Bryce. It felt like his heart grew bigger. More bigger then with Abilene!

Months and Months flew by. Yet, Shelly grew more sicker. She coughed more and then started to cough up blood.

One day, Shelly was holding Edward. She coughed More. So, in the middle of holding Edward, She dropped him on the floor and shut her eyes.

When Bryce saw her, he started to cry hardly. His dad came when he heard the news.

" What did you do!" The dad said, weeping.

" I didn't do it!" Bryce said crying.

" Give her to me!" Bryce said.

" I'm the dad! I will take care of her, not you!" The dad said furiously.

Bryce took Jangles and cryed. Inside of Edwards mind felt a drop of tear roll around.

The dad took Shelly to bury her. Bryce took his harmonica and played a sad song. Edward listened to the song sadly and felt a dark hole in his stomach. I felt like my life started over and never will come back.

I wish I could fly with wings. But it will never happen.

Bryce took me and walked out of the hut and all the way to a place to make money. He cut strings and taped it to his hands and feet. He had his hat and put it on the ground for the money. He played his harmonica and made Edward dance.

People poured in money in the hat and the hat was filled with cash.

He took the cash and the hat and found a closest restaurant to eat in.

He sat in a table and looked at the menu.

When the waitress came, she asked what he wanted to eat.

" I want meat loaf, biscuits, toasts, cereal, and a waffle" Bryce said.

The waitress looked at him with curiosity and walked away.

They brought the food and Bryce ate it all up.

Edward was sitting in a baby seat.

The check was set on the table and Bryce was looking at it. When he saw how much money it was, he realized he didn't have enough.

He told his waitress and she was a little disappointed. She called to the manager and he was upset.

He banged the table.

" What! Why'd you come here if you ain't got money!" He yelled.

"Ummm.. I didn't know it will cost much" Bryce said.

" If you give me a chance I'll show you a dancing rabbit" Bryce said.

Then he took Edward and made him dance. The manager banged the table again and said " I don't want to see an old dancing rabbit!"

Then he took Edward and Banged him on the table.

( His dream):

Edward walked to Abilene's house. He saw the hobo, the dog, Abilene, Bryce, Nina, and the fisherman.

" Shelly is up there, high in the sky" the hobo said.

Suddenly, Edward flew up to the sky. The hobo jumped up and caught him.

( End of dream)

Bryce went to a doll store to fix Edward.

The Worker Wanted money for it. But, Bryce didn't have any.

So, The worker said he has a deal for him.

He could pay to fix him or He could fix him, But then he will have to keep him. Bryce picked the second choice to keep Edward safe and fixed.

Bryce said goodbye to Jangles and kissed him. The worker brought him to his store.
