I can't wait to tell Elizabeth this. I think writing down notes. When the lunch bell rings I quickly rush out of second class arithmatic and to the court yard . It was a vast area with tables scatterd across the feild. The celing was clear glass penetrating light from the sun, making the cafeteria have a warm feel to it. I look around spotting elizabeth in our usual sopt.
" Liz!" I call out to her. She waves me over a big grin on her face.
"What?" I ask confused.
"I heard." She says with a low voice. I raise my eyebrows.
"About what?"
" About you and the New Kid." She says looking at me with interest.
"Oh that-"
"Amber."
I turn to find Arron walking toward us. I look back at Elizabeth finding her eyes wide with fasination.
"Hey" he said greeting us both.
"Hi" Elizabeth says warmly. "I'm Elizabeth." She sticks her hand out and he shakes it firmly.
I stop myself from rolling my eyes once again. Hopefully Elizabeth wouldn't swoon over him like everyone else does.
"Hey Amber." Aroon says snapping me back to reality.
"Coffee after school?" He asked with hope filled eyes.
"Sure." I nod. What else could i say? After all it's all I do anyway. I meet Liz eyes only to find a bit of confusion.
"We aren't meeting later?" She asked I could sence the lonleyness in her voice. I had to think of something quick.
"You can come to if you want." I smile reasuringly at her.
Her face brightens once more.
"Okay." she gets up leaving me and Arron sitting at the table akwardly.
"I'll catch up with you later." She says waving goodbye and dissapearing into the crowd without looking back. I stared at the cword for a good minute hoping she would come right back. She didn't.
I ate my PB&J sandwich in peace saying nothing and listening to Arron talking about how our school is diffent from his old one. I wonderd why Liz didn't stay with me. She and I would usually finish our sandwiches together. Today hers was untouched and the memory of it made me cringe.
"Hey ." Arron touched my shoulder. "Are you okay?" He peered into my face with a look of worry.
I smiled "I'm fine, my sandwich just tasted kinda weird."
"Oh okay then." His hand left my shoulder and I let myself relax.
This will all be resolved after school. I reasure myself as the third class bell rang.
The rest of school was pityful.
Apart from Liz ignoring me in Orchestra I found out that Arron was in the last class of the day, dance, which made my day so much better.
The dance instructor told us to get into pairs.Immediatley Arron and I made eye contact. He grinned goffily walking over to me and putting an arm around my shoulders.
"Looks like I found my partner." He says to me. I withhold a giggle trying to escape my lips.
" Whats your last name?" He ask out of the blue.
I hesitate, "Garbelly."
"huh." He says. "Garbelly." He repeates letting the syllables roll of his tounge. "Amber Garbelly."
"What?" I ask getting slightly irritated. "Why are you saying my name like that?" I say watching everyone one else find there partners.
"It's facinating," He says with a small smile. I feel my cheecks get hot.
" Okay ballroom dancing." The Dance instructor calls out. Slowly we all get into our positions and walts to classical music coming out of the speakers.
"Hey" He starts.
"Yeah?"
He looks like he just remebered something important.
"This reminds me of David."
A wave of confusion hit me. " Whos David?"
"A man after Gods own heart." He acted as if he was speaking about someone he knew personaly.
"David sounds familiar...." I say trying to figure out who he was talikng about.
He sighed. " David! Like in David and Goliath!"
"Oh!" I smiled. " That was my favorite bible story when i was little."
"Really?"
"Yeah. But what does that have to do with what were doing now?" I ask trying to understand his allusion.
"Well back then people used to dace in order to show appreciation or gratitude, you know happyness." I nodded listening to his explanation.
"David would dance for God to please him and show him how happy God made him."
"Really? How often did he dance?"
He shrugged. " A lot, atcually I don't really know but he must have really been thankful. They call hiim 'A man After Gods own heart'."
After he said this we remained silent continuing and focusing on our routine untill the bell rang. I grabbed my stuff, rushed to my locker jamming my books into my bag. Shutting my locker closed me and Arron waited for Elizabeth. I sae a glimps of her long sleek brown hair and chased after her with Arron following closely behind.
"Liz!" I called out. She turned to us her face brightening .
"Hey guys!" She greeted us.
"You coming?" I ask.
"Uhm.. Yeah Sure." She replied hesitating.
Arron suddenly interjected the conversation." Guys I have to head home to unpack. I'll see you later. Good bye and God bless!"
"Oh okay I'll see you later!" I smiled waving goodbye as he dissapeaerd into the swarm of students.
"Wow I can't belive he just left." Liz sais irritated.
"What do you not like him?" I questioned getting defensive.
"It's not that I don't like him he's an attractive guy, it's just that" she paused before continuing "Is he like religeous or something?" I flinched. Getting annoyed at the question i changed the subject.
" I want some coffee lets go get some."
At this Liz raised her eyebrows but didn't push it. She followed me out the school doors.
"I'm noy certain I like this guy." she murmerd
