At first light of the day my eyes shot open out of a deep sleep. I felt it again. I felt the figure looming outside my window. I pretended to still be unconscious. Then it slinked away, back to the woods. I couldn't help but to take a glance at the dark opening that leads into those woods. The woods known as Elsewhere. We are constantly warned of the dangers that await down that path. I often wonder if these warnings are even necessary. If only I were allowed the opportunity to find out for myself. I need to know. I will go there tonight and possibly take Kyle if he doesn't whine like a small child. I will need to pack supplies in case I end up camping over night. Not that anyone in this village would really notice our absence in the morning. Besides our parents that is. Mainly because they trust we won't do anything too terribly moronic. " Riley, breakfast!". I grumbled to myself as I slid over the edge of my bed to start dressing for the day. I don't want to eat but I know I must. I slip my covers off and slide off my bed. Time to get ready for the day.
