Sang
I was both relieved and extremely worried what would happen when I saw my attacker dead on the asphalt, things were clicking into place and I wasn't liking where they might be leading. After Owen had assured me they would find me a safe place to stay I decided to make a few calls, one to Will, letting him know I was okay but I needed to go somewhere else for a while and he shouldn't worry to much since I would be safe. The other call I was dreading as I dialed the familiar number and as usual he answered on the second ring. "Hey Uncle Phil, I need a favor." I sighed into the phone, I could almost feel his protective instincts kicking in.
"Sang I know that tone what's wrong, what happened? Did one of those boys try something, I warned them?!" he growled through the phone. "No Phil, they did nothing wrong, in fact they just helped me get a guy that was trying to kill me out of my house." I answered softly, waiting a beat for the words to kick in. "WHAT!!! Young lady you need to explain NOW!" I could hear him muttering on the other line, no doubt pacing his office in worry. "I don't know what's going on Phil, but it seems to be happening all over again." I whispered into the phone, rubbing my aching temples lightly, this was just one giant headache.
"Her bad or Him bad?" I heard him sigh in reply, the one man who had a smidgen of a clue what I had really gone through considering he had seen some of it in person. "Him." I grunted in reply as I heard his intake of breath. "Sang I'm so sorry I know how badly you wanted to escape this. Is there anything I can do to help?" Phil asked softly and I smiled at his tone, he really was a great guy through the tough business like exterior. Phil reminded me a bit of an older Owen, hopefully neither will ever know I thought that, I don't think they could take it.
"That's actually the reason I'm calling, the guys are going to set me up with a safe place to stay but I need a favor." I stated, getting down to business whether I liked it or not. "Anything." was the reply. "I need you to watch the dogs, Nuka got hurt in the attack and if I'm going to go into semi hiding again I need to know someone will keep my babies safe. I know it's a lot to as Uncle Phil but you're the only one I know of that they'll actually tolerate for long periods of time other than myself. So do you think you can help me?" I asked painfully hopeful, I wanted the pups safe but I also didn't want to let them go.
I wasn't sure I would ever get them back again, I only hoped I'd get that chance, and that whatever trouble was heading my way, I and everyone involved would make it out alive and in one piece. "I'll be there to pick them up in 15 minutes." Phil grunted into the phone. "Thank you." I whispered before hanging up and going to sit and snuggle with my pups for as long as I could before they were taken away from me for who knows how long.
I was thankful the guys gave me my space as I avoided the cop cars and ambulance who were now on site to process the scene, I watched everything in silence as Uncle Phil's car drove up slowly. "Alright boys, I'm going to have to go away for a little while and I need you to go with Phil. I want you guys to be good for him, no biting and not to much growling, okay?" I was getting chocked up as I said my goodbyes to my pets, they whined and licked every available hand or cheek they could reach. I clipped their leashes on in silence as I watched someone I didn't know carry their stuff to Phil's car for me, my uncle slowly making his way towards me as he eyed the scene going on in front of my house.
"Oh little one. How are you holding up?" I could read the sad understanding in his eyes as he carefully but firmly pulled me into a hug. "Hanging in there, thanks for coming Uncle Phil." I murmured into his chest before pulling back. "Anytime, anyplace Sang, remember that." He smiled back sadly as we shared a look of silence, before I turned to my pooches once more. "Alright guys, time to go. I'm going to miss you, and I love you so much. Be good." I whimpered into Nuka's scruff as I wrapped my arms around all my boys, they returned my sentiment with whimpers of their own.
