Adeline sat on the couch in her and Zayn's flat, late at night, waiting for her beloved fiance to come home. It was well past one in the morning and Zayn was supposed to be home by nine. He had told her that he had some business to take care of at the management office; it wasn't supposed to take too long.

This has been happening a lot lately, and Adeline knew it was beginning to happen more and more often.  He would say he had something to take care of, claim that he would be home not so late, and then he would never come. Adeline has spent many nights this way, and she was beginning to reach her breaking point.

She was just about to give up and go to bed when she finally heard the door open. Her heart pounded in her chest, and she was so angry she thought she could puke right on the spot. Her eyes fled over to land on Zayn, whose hair was disheveled and sloppy. Adeline could see the bags under his eyes and the way his eyes showed pink. She knew Zayn had been out doing drugs, again.

"Hey, you didn't have to wait up for me, love," he told her, as if nothing was wrong. He started to pull her in for a kiss but she slapped his hand away and sunk deeper into the couch. Her heart hurt and she was trying to hold back the tears, but it was hard for her.

"What's wrong?" Zayn asked her, although in the back of his mind he knew exactly why she was acting strange.

He sat down on the couch, moving to comfort her, only to pull away as she flinched at his touch. They both sat there for a moment before he finally spoke up.

"Adeline, I'm so sorry," he choked. He put his head in his hands and bit the inside of his cheek.

"Sorry?" Adeline spat, tears rising at the brim of her eyes. "You're sorry? Tell me, Zayn, do you mean it this time? Because you sure as hell didn't mean it the first, or the second, or the fifth, or the tenth! I thought that maybe you would stop once we became more serious, but you haven't!" she yelled. Tears were now pooling out of her eyes, rolling down her cheeks and onto the floor.

Zayn turned his head to look at her, tears threatning his own eyes. "Adeline I-"

"No! Zayn." she interrupted, standing from the couch before he did the same. "After the first time, when I caught you with another woman's fucking underwear, I decided to forgive you, even though you cheated on me. The next time, when you came home high with lipstick all over your face, I forgave you. Each time you came home late at night or early in the morning, I was here, waiting on you while you were out getting wasted or high out of your mind doing God knows fucking what, and I'm done, I'm done with you Zayn!" She slid the ring off of her finger and threw it back at him.

Zayn started to panic. He couldn't lose her, she was everything he had. He felt the ache rise in his chest as the words came out of her mouth, and he felt the hole that appeared in his heart as the one he loved most denied him.

"Adeline I can change!" he begged, but she wasn't having it. She walked into the bedroom, starting to pack her things and Zayn became even more panicked than he was already. "Adeline no, please don't leave me, I love you!" Her silence was killing him. He hadn't even noticed the tears streaming down his face, for all he could think of was how to get her to stay.

"I am nothing without you, I love you more than anyone or anything else just please don't leave me. Marry me!" he shouted, holding the ring up to her again as he begged on his hands and knees, crying his heart out to the girl who continued to pack.

"If you loved me then you wouldn't put me throught this!" she yelled. "You would stay here with me and show me. You wouldn't ditch me and get high all the time, leaving me her worrying my damn mind out over whether or not you are going to make it home alive!" She zipped up her first suitcase before moving into the bathroom to gather her makeup and toiletries.

He followed her desperately. "I know and I am sorry! I am so fucking sorry and I would do anything to take it all back! Adeline if there was a single time in my life where I have meant it when I said sorry, it would be now. I can't live on without you, you are my life!" Tears continued to stream out of his eyes.

Adeline harshly pushed him out of the way to walk back into the bedroom. She chose not to say anything as she put her toiletry pack into her second suitcase, biting her cheek, trying not to cry. After putting a few more items into her suitcase, she grabbed them both and made her way to the door.

"Adeline!" Zayn choked out into a yell. By now his whole face was wet with tears, he could no longer hold himself together. "You can't leave me! I know what I have done to you is so fucked up but I swear to you I will never touch another blunt if you just stay!" She almost gave in to his words, almost.

With one last sigh to herself she grabbed her mobile and opened the door. "I love you Zayn, I think I always will. But if you think for a damn minute that I will marry someone who treats me this way, you are sadly mistaken," she spoke in a near whisper. Zayn could feel his heart breaking with each second that passed by when she wasn't in his arms, but it was too late, there was nothing he could do to save himself this time.

"I have too much respect for myself to put myself through this. I forgave you repeatedly, and you spat right back in my face by doing this again and again," she told him. He sunk down to his knees, knowing that each word that escaped her lips was true.

"I love you Adeline. I need you to stay," Zayn sobbed, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing his face, soaked with tears, into her stomach. She savored the last touch from Zayn she thought she would ever get before gently pushing him off, running her fingers through his black hair one last time, and walked out of the door.

She had no place to go, so she just stood there for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts. What was she supposed to do? She didn't know, so she just sunk down to the floor, resting her back against the door to her- now Zayn's, flat. She cried to her heartbroken self, not knowing that one the opposite side of that very door, the love of her life was doing the exact same, resting his own back against the door, crying his heart out. Both of them thought the same thing.

What have I just done?

The rest of the chapters will be longer, I just couldn't continue this one because there is a certain style in which I will be writing this book. The next chapter will be in Adeline's POV, and the next will be in Zayn's. It will alternate every other chapter, but I will tell you at the beginning of each chapter who's point of view it is. Thanks for reading and vote if you liked it!
