Sad Yorkalina oneshot suggested by @Agent_Alabama. Thanks for the suggestion by the way! Implied CarWash siblings. Here goes nothing.
No
Was the only thing going through York's mind as he tried to process what the doctor just told him.
No
This couldn't happen. She was a fighter. She was the strongest person York had ever met. She couldn't be gone. Not Carolina.
"I-I'm s-sorry. What?" He sputtered.
"Agent York, I'm sorry for your loss. Agent Carolina is dead. She died on the operating table." The doctor repeated.
No
Not her. Not his 'Lina. It couldn't be true.
He stood there, shocked, as tears started rolling down his cheeks. He cried silently.
North caught him before he collapsed.
"No. No no no no no! Not her. Not her." York sobbed. North hugged him and rubbed his back soothingly.
"I'm sorry York. I'm so sorry."
Three days passed. The MOI went back to earth for Carolina's funeral. Buried in the cemetery of her hometown.
York didn't want to go, but he did. He wore funeral clothes, just like everyone else.
Carolina was wearing a dress, the same colour as her armour. With a sweetheart neckline and a ribbon around the waist. She wore the necklace York gave her as a birthday present, the silver heart locket gleaming in the sunlight. Her hair was in a nicer version of her usual ponytail with her bangs off to the side. There wasn't a trace of her being injured, not a speck of blood or dirt anywhere. She looked beautiful in a civilian way. Not her usually roughed up from battle way.
York missed her so much. Why did it have to end this way? But just before they closed the coffin, he went up to her and kissed her forehead one last time, and tucked a bright red rose underneath her folded hands.
After the burial, wash approached York.
"Thank you." He said.
"What?" York have wash a confused look.
"Thank you for taking care of her. You made her happy again. I hadn't seen her smile like that since before our mom died. It- It was nice seeing her smile again." Wash pulled York into a hug.
York knew Washington was hurting just as much as he was. He just lost his big sister.
From that day on, York fought his hardest to win, and made sure to do his best. He didn't let the sadness of losing his girlfriend get to him, because 'Lina wouldn't have wanted that.
And until the day he died, he wore the ring he was going to propose to her with on a chain with his half of the locket.
Lots of feels. I'm a great author. Anyway, I'm sorry I haven't updated in forever! It's been busy. Anyway, have a great day guys!
