It was then when my trusted servant, Diaval, informed me of the small cottage in the woods where a child is being raised by three peasant women that I realized Stefan is trying to hide his child from me. I follow Diaval as he leads me to the small cottage. Once there, I confirm my suspicions by glancing through the window and spotting a familiar baby. They left it unattended by the open window. Now that I'm getting a closer look at it, "It's so ugly. I almost feel sorry for it." It giggles and reaches a hand towards me. I flinch back and quietly snarl at it, baring my teeth like I would towards an animal. It was unaffected and just continued to smile and giggle. I scoff at it. "I hate you. Beasty."

I watch through the eyes of Diaval as they fail at taking care of the child. I can't help but to be annoyed. It cries and screams like a banshee all the time. Never stops. Diaval caws to me as he shakes his little crow head. "They're going to end up starving the poor thing." I give Diaval a flower. "Take this to the child. It should keep it from starving and bursting my ear drums."

As weeks pass, I entertain myself by using my magic to mess with the fairies inside. I chuckle as I finish a small prank, but Diaval looks at me, disapprovingly. This only makes me laugh more and he finally cracks a smile. "See? It is funny. Live a little, will you?"

As the days went on, Stefan darkened, further consumed by paranoia and vengeance. Plans were made to tear down the wall that Maleficent had built. Try as they may, nothing could take it down.

"Look. The little beast is about to fall off the cliff." Diaval begins to panic and I just watch and listen as the child screams. I smile when I see Diaval hiding his eyes. When he looks up, he sees the child happily running in the opposite direction and looks up at me with a questioning glance with a small caw. "What?"

As I decide to head home early, I am stopped by a small voice. "Hello."

I turn around and look at it in horror. I take a step back as it steps towards me. "Go away." Closer. "Go. I don't like children."

It raises it's arms to me. "Up."

I hesitantly pick it up, but keep it away from me at the same time. I feel a smile tug at my lips, but immediately set it back down and gently push it away. "Go. Go home, now."

As years passed, the child grew as Maleficent had said. In grace and beauty. Far away from the lofty palace that he remembered not. And as the seasons changed and the flowers grew, so did he. He wondered at the world about him, and at what lay beyond the fearsome wall of thorns. He was not the only one who wanted to get through.

I found him napping under the shade of a tree and decided on something. With a snap of my fingers, he begins to levitate and I bring him with me through the wall of thorns to the Moors. I sit and wait for him to wake up.
He's grown into a handsome young man. Similar to his father, but the beauty is from his mother. I only admire them for that one thing. Making this beautiful child. I stare for I don't know how long, as he continues to sleep. As I watch him, something familiar flares in my chest. "Could it be?" I chuckle at the thought. "No. That's ridiculous." I turn away from him and watch as the light bugs begin to fill the sky.
I'm not sure how long I was entranced by these insects, but I suppose it was long enough to be startled by a smiling Beasty.
"I know who you are," it says.
I watch him skeptically as he stands and steps closer to me. "Do you?"
He nods. "You're my fairy godmother. Well, fairy godfather."
Is he serious? "What?" I ask, not wanting to believe he just said that.
"My fairy godfather. You've been looking after me my whole life. I've always known you were close by."
"How?"
"Your shadow. It's always there. Wherever I go, your shadow follows."
