" . . . That is how the spirit dog saved its family, and now every dog has the courage to help their family when the desperate times come." Finished Ms. Nicole Harper, closing the book.
"Says who?" Bryan McCormack challenged, who was sitting in the back of the room with his feet on the desk.
"Says me and this book of legends in my hand," Nicole shot back, lifting the book into the air. "And it looks like, to me, that you need to read a more detailed and thorough version of the story."
"And why would I do that?" He asked.
"Because I told you to and because if you don't take this hall pass I'm writing you," she started, while writing the hall pass, "you will get detention. How does that sound?"

When Bryan entered the library, he was just angry and reluctant to read the book on the spirit dog. But in order for me to go back to class I have to. He thought. But I don't really want to, though.
When he got to the aisle with the history and mythology books, he looked on the shelf to see only one very thick book that was the only story on the topic.
Well, might as well get to reading.
So he got the book off the shelf and went to a sofa in the kids section since he was going to be there awhile.
When he got there, a little kid came up to him.
"That's the spirit dog book, right?" He asked him.
"Yes." He answered the boy. "Why?"
"I just wanted to tell you that that dog saved people from their home and has given courage to every dog since."
"How?" Bryan inquired.
"Read the book and you'll find out," the boy told him, turning away to exit the room.
When he left, Bryan opened the book and saw what it was like in the eyes of a dog.
