"Wake up you lazy ass!!" Shouted Evan's mother while she banged on his already destroyed door.
"I am mother, I'm up!" Evan proclaimed back to his mother. He stood out of bed with a woozy head and placed his hand on the end table for support.
Evan's mother shouted once again, "Get down here you fuck for breakfast or you're getting the belt!" With renewed energy, Evan quickly pulled his clothes on for school and barreled down the stairs into the dirty kitchen that reeked of marujaina.
"Where's Dad?" Asked Evan with some caution, his dad was usually out of the house at night and didn't return until early morning stumbling on the sidewalk being utterly wasted.
"It's none of your concern now is it boy?" Evan's mother dangerously shot back. "You know he's always out late," she continued talking while making eggs in a dirty pan that most likely hadn't been washed for three weeks. "He should return any time now." Evan didn't dare eat anything she made, no offense to her, it's just that there's nothing clean in this household. Evan stood in the barren, awful smelling kitchen as his moldy father burst through the door.
"Evan, my son how are ya?" His father asked with a slurred tongue. His breath reeked of alcohol and shame.
"I am good, father." Evan replied with little confidence. He didn't know if his words would spark a yelling fit or keep the beast asleep. Luckily it was the latter.
"Gud gud, didja say mornin' to yur mother yet? His father belched which only increased the stench in the kitchen. Evan's eyes widened with panic. Anything could set off his father right now, and he couldn't lie, his mom would shut it down with extreme speed. Evan turned to his mother and spat a quick good morning to which she nodded and smiled. "Gud boy, Evan." Evan's father sat down on an almost broken kitchen stool which creaked with age and misuse.
While his parents were distracted, Evan grabbed his backpack, put on his shoes and bolted out the door before anything bad could happen to him.
