Chapter One
Siena had just got off work, walking to the coffee shop. She worked at a run down vacuum machine company on the main road. She didn't warn much, but she had her boyfriend for support, right? "This day couldn't get any worse" She mumbled, fumbling through her bag. That day, around lunch, she had gotten a text from her boyfriend, Jona. All it said was, "I'm breaking up with you. I don't think we were meant to be. Meet me for coffee at 5 to discuss when we move your stuff."
At first Siena just stared at her phone. Her co-workers barely even noticed to running from her desk, almost in tears. After she cried her eyes out in the office's restroom, she left to meet Jona for coffee. They were to get together at his favorite shop, on the other side of town from where she worked. After a bit of walking, she realised she didn't have her phone. She must've lost it after she got the message that ruined her day. "Great. No phone, no boyfriend" She mumbled, looking at her feet. Just then, she felt a drop of water hit her neck. "Really? Rain too?!" She looked up, practically yelling at the sky. "Just leave me alone!" She walked at a faster pace now.
Soon, the rain picked up, soaking Siena and leaving her walking through puddles. It was obviously past five, even though she didn't have her phone to tell her that. "Crap..." She was practically jogging now, trying to get there as soon as possible. A few times, she almost walked into a pole, the mist was so bad. Then, the lonely girl heard a car engine blaring behind her, getting louder by the second. "Great, another soaking" She thought, moving away from the road. The car stopped a few paces behind her. "Hey! You need a ride?" A young Irish voice called into the storm.
Siena looked back, stopping abruptly. "I'm fine." She shouted back and continued making her way through the rain. "You don't look fine" The voice said a bit quieter. "Why thank you very much" She mumbled, stopping again and walking in the direction of the voice. Once she saw him through the fog, he answered. "I didn't mean it like that. You just look like you could get a ride." He held out his hand. "Niall Horan" She shook it and eventually, after lots of convincing, agreed on the ride.
The car was black. Jet black and beautiful. Siena wondered how such a young guy could've afforded such great transportation. She then looked toward him and pointed ahead. "I just need to get to the coffee shop up the road as quick as possible! I think I'm late for a meet." He fumbled with the clock in his car, face going a bit red as he clumsily got it working. "It's six forty-six" He replied, turning off the main road to a side street. "I know a shortcut to this place".
She smiled a little and watched the houses zooming past, thinking about where she was headed in life. As Siena thought, Niall was pondering as well, trying to figure out how to not look so odd in front of this girl. He eventually broke the silence with a casual "how's life" remark.
And he soon regretted it. Siena immediately starting pouring out the woes of her day, of her life. For some reason, even though they only met five minutes ago, she felt she could tell him anything.
After hearing why he was taking her to the shop, he started to wonder why she would even see this guy anymore.
"Why are you going to meet this guy after what he did to you?" Niall asked sympathetically. "
"I have to. I need to get my things, and he's helping me find a place to stay..."
And with that, they had arrived at the destination, hurriedly getting out of the car and walking inside. "Thank you so much!" Siena blushed, giving him a quick hug, then running over to her ex.
Niall sighed and took a seat at a table away from them, so they could have a private conversation. "She's lovely..." He thought, staring at her, quickly turning his head whenever she'd have a look. He eventually decided on a plan to get to know Siena. "I guess I'll be staying for awhile..."
As Jona rambled on and on about how this relationship just wasn't working, Siena just kind of daydreamed. She looked around, every once in awhile looking at Niall. She'd turn away whenever his eyes would meet hers. Jona eventually noticed her actions and was enraged.
"How can you be doing this? I'm having a serious conversation with you about US, and you're off thinking of other men! I'm done with you, DONE. Get your own ride home, maybe from your new lover." He glared at Niall and stormed out, turning his head before he reached the door. "All of your stuff will be thrown away if it's not out of my house tomorrow." With that, he was gone.
Her eyes started to water, but she held them in and got up, walking outside. Niall automatically followed, feeling like he needed to, even though it was none of his business. "Where to now?" He laid his hand on her shoulder, standing under the small bit of shelter from the rain. "I can't ask you for another ride, you've done enough for me. Besides, there's no place to go anyway."
"There's always a place to go" He said quickly.
Siena thought for a moment. "No no no..." She whipped around to look at him. "I can't ask that much of you!"
He nodded, taking her hand and bringing her to his car. "You'll stay at my house tonight, and you'll get your stuff tomorrow!" He said simply, as if there was nothing to it.
"I just met you an hour ago!" She raised her voice a little, then brought it down. "Are you sure I won't be a problem?"
"Of course not. The more the merrier!" Niall grinned cheekily.
She looked at him nervously, then focusing her vision on the crack in the pavement. "I guess..."
Niall smiled and ran out to the car, opening her door for her. "Thank you" She said, sighing with relief, as they drove away.
"Thank you."
