Chapter 14

"Have a Great Day! Next in Line" I loudly said. I put some hangers in a box behind me and then turned back to my register.
"Hello did you find everything okay today?"
I looked up to make eye contact with my customer and saw Jack. He was wearing a beanie and sunglasses. He was probably trying not to get recognized by fans but I could see a few curly hairs peaking out.
"Karen is that you?"
"The one and only." I said, scanning his items and folding them.
"I didn't know you wear glasses or worked at Forever 21."
"Well there's a lot of things you don't know about me." I wasn't trying to sound rude but I wasn't having a great day. I was really tired and I hadn't slept that much thd night before.
"Are you okay? You sound kind of mad."
"Im fine. Your total is $27.34."
He swiped his credit card.
"So when are you off?"
I checked the time on my smart watch.
"You're lucky. You're my last customer."
"Great. I'll wait for you outside." He said,smiling and walking away without waiting for a response.
I walked to the back and grabbed my backpack. I clocked out and walked outside. I looked around and found Jack sitting by himself on a bench.
"You waited."
He looked up and nodded.
"Where's the rest of your gang?" I asked, looking around.
He shrugged. "We all went our seperate ways today. I think Jonah and Daniel were going to the beach and Zach and Corbyn were staying at home to play some video games."
"And you decided to go to the mall by yourself?"
He nodded and stood up.
"Do you want to grab something to eat? Maybe burgers or a sandwich? Pizza?"
"Im really not that hungry. The only thing I'm craving right now are Mcdonalds french fries."
My stomach growled.
"Lets get McDonald's then!"
"I thought you only ate at fancy places." I teased, taking out my phone and requesting an uber for us.
"Nah Im not into that fancy life."
"Mhmm" I said, looking at his rolex.
"Hey it looks good on me don't you think?" He replied, showing off his watch.
"Sure it does."
We walked outside to wait for our Uber.
"So I didn't know you wore glasses."
"I have to wear them to see from far."
"You look really good with them." He complimented. I blushed and fiddled with the buttons of my denim shirt.
When our Uber pulled up, he opened the door for me.
"You're such a gentleman" i teased, getting inside.
"You know it." He winked at me. My heart melted.
Our drive to McDonald's was comfortably silent.
When we got there, we got off and walked inside the restaurant.
"Hey Karen" my old co-workers greeted me. I smiled and waved.
"Wow you seem famous here." Jack said.
"Eh, i used to work here. This was actually my first job." I smiled proudly.
"Wow. Im impressed you went from working at a fast food restaurant to a popular clothing store. What's next you're going to own your company?"
"Don't jinx on it." I winked and walked up to the cashier ordering food for both of us. When Michael, the cashier, finished repeating our order, Jack and I took our credit cards out at the same time.
"I'll pay." I said, pushing his hand away lightly.
"No I'll pay" he insisted.
"No I want to pay."
"No-"
"Karen just let your boyfriend pay this time. You're holding back the line." Michael said, interrupting us. He was obviously annoyed.
I blushed. Why would he think Me and Jack were dating?
Jack grabbed thr receipt and led us to a table.
"You should've let me pay " I pouted.
"I'm glad I paid. I got to see that cute little pout of yours." He teased. I blushed again.
"Wow you turn red easily." He smirked.
"Stop Teasing me."
He laughed.
"Order Number 15"
"That's us. I'll go get the food." Jack said, standing up. I stared at him and sighed happily. He was so hot. Sadly, I would never get the chance to date a guy like him.
He came back and we began eating our burgers.
"Thought you weren't hungry huh?" He said, wiping ketchup off his mouth.
"Just because a girl says she's not hungry doesnt mean she isnt"
"Wow" he replied. I giggled. It was something I did when I was nervous.
"You have a cute little giggle."
I smiled.
"You also have a beautiful smile."
"You really just want to make me turn red dont you?" I was already red enough.
"I really do." He said,nodding.
I rolled my eyes playfully and we ate the rest of our food in silence. Jack's phone dinged as I got up to throw the trash.
"Ooo Jonah wants us to go to the beach with him and And Daniel." Jack said.
"Us?"
"Yea he said he was heading over to your apartment to invite you girls. But since youre right here with me Im inviting you."
I shrugged. "Im not really a bikini/ beach type of person."
"Cmon Karen you dont have to wear a bikini anyways. Its not mandatory. Just wear something your comfortable with. You'll probably still look better than all those naked bikini girls."
I blushed even more and bit my lip. Should I?
"Pleaseeee." He pouted giving me his best puppy eyes.
I tried my hardest not to give in but at last I finally agreed.
"Yes!" He cheered, causing people to looks at us.
I laughed.
He was too cute.
