I woke up this morning with a real smile on my face and matching bright eyes, happiness clear in my expression, this is a rare occasion for me. The reason I'm happy? Today I am eighteen, as of today I can buy alcohol, go clubbing, get a tattoo and do other things without it being illegal or having someone tell me off, as of today I am free. However if you knew anything about me, you'd know that I'm not really into these kind of things.
Let me tell you a bit about myself so you have an idea of what I'm really like. My name is Summer, I'm an average looking girl nothing special if I'm honest, I have a heart shaped face which is framed by my emerald eyes which have small golden specks in them and my hair which flows just past my ribs. My hair isn't exactly curly nor is it straight, it is chestnut brown and wavy with a hint of curls depending on how it feels like going when I have a shower or when I wake. I am quite small compared to other girls in my year, I'm 5'3 and proud to be small, my body isn't perfectly slim, but I have curves in the right places which I am quite happy about.
I am most definitely not one of those preppy girls you get in college that always wear bright colours and have a massive smile on their faces 24/7. I am your average girl, I don't tend to dislike people unless they treat me like shit. I have my own small group of friends who are all quite close to me, there are never really any fights within the group and everyone gets on equally.
I am on of those girls who really likes books but I'm not a nerd, one of my favourite hobbies is music which is one of my courses here at college, I really like bands but I'm into all types of music. I also take drama, photography and film studies, subject which all link with one another but give me options in a future career.
Anyway enough about me, today is my eighteenth and luckily it happens to be on a Saturday. I prance over to my window and open the curtain slightly creating a small gap for me to see through, I notice that the sun is shining outside which is unusual for Manchester weather, but since it is June I guess the sun has finally decided to make an appearance. I let go of the curtain and it falls back into place so that no light is peeking into my room and no one can see through while I'm changing. I walk into the bathroom and turn the shower on, after stripping my clothes off I step into the warm water, moaning slightly as the droplets hit my skin making my muscles relax. Once I have finished massaging my vanilla scented shampoo into my scalp, I allow the soft droplets of hot water to finish rinsing the last of the shampoo from my hair, repeating the action with a matching conditioner. Once I finish my usual showering routine I switch the shower off and then grab the towel from the rail, wrapping it securely round my body before stepping out of the shower. I grab my toothbrush and squirt some toothpaste on it before popping it in my mouth and brushing my teeth, once I was done I walk back into my room.
I quickly change into the outfit I picked out last night which consisted of black skinny jeans with a white sleeveless shirt which fades to a mint green colour at the bottom, over the top I have a cropped denim jacket and finish my outfit with a pair of golden wedge sandals (Picture at the side) . I apply a small amount of makeup keeping a natural look, I don't really like it when people wear too much makeup I think it looks atrocious, especially when a girls face looks orange while her neck is pure white. Once I am ready I pick up my sunglasses and pop them on top of my head, I then walk to my door grabbing my matching green bag from the hook and leave the room.
I decide on skipping breakfast, as usual and leave the house to meet my friends in town. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the bus stop from my house, so I pop my earphones in and listen to Ed Sheeran as I walk down the long pathway. When I arrive at the bus stop it takes at least five minutes of waiting before the bus come, I pay the bus driver and begin my search for a seat, the bus is always packed in the morning on the way to the city centre. After a twenty minute journey I get off the bus at the last stop and walk to meet my friends. I can tell this day is going to be long already.
