4. Tears are sensitive to sadness
Jane's POV
This is a bit awkward. I saw the first with Belle's doctor- like they're having an argument. We sat down at the hospital's hallway near the nurse station. To be honest, I didn't think he's going to notice me.
Josh: What are you doing here?
Jane: I brought Belle here. After your meeting, she collapse near the school gate.
Josh: And my Dad was her attending doctor, huh.
Jane: I'm actually kind of surprised back there that he's your-
Josh: Is she okay now?He tried to change the subject.
Jane: Are you worried?
He suddenly looked at me angrily. Did I say something wrong?
Josh: I'm just asking you. If she's sick, we can't work together. The class will be in great disaster without the representatives.
No. I think there is more than that. I can see it in his eyes.
Jane: She's fine. I just have to observe her for two weeks and submit it to Dr.Felix.
He stood up and started walking.
Jane: Where are you going?
Josh: To my Dad's. Belle cannot afford to pay so I'm going to ask him not to let her pay a single dime.
Jane: First-I can't stop it. My feelings, my words. He stopped and looked at me.
Jane: Do you like her?
Josh: What?
Jane: That Clarabelle. Do you like her?His face was blanked but then he smirked.
Josh: Don't be ridiculous. I just pity her. She's hardworking that's why I'm helping her.
My feeling lifted up. That's a good answer.
Jane: Then,
Josh: But I must say,He talked back! What is he going to say?
Josh: She's a girl that is better than you.
My eyes widened when he spouted those harsh words. What is he trying to do?
Belle's POV
I woke up. What happened to me? And I'm pretty sure I'm in a hospital emergency room. Dextrose in my left arm and oxygen tube in my nose. Why am I here?
Nurse Kaye: Miss Clarabelle! You're awake!
A nurse came and greet me. She smiled and checked on me.
Nurse Kaye: How are you feeling? Better?
I can't talk. I didn't know where to start asking her about me.
Nurse Kaye: Your friend named Jane brought you here.
Jane brought me here? What? Why? When? I can't believe that.
Nurse Kaye: We did some tests on you. You look terrible when you came.
She laughed. Tests? OH NO! I don't have money to pay for it.
Belle: Uhm wait! I almost forgot! I don't have money. You see, I'm poor and cannot affo-
Nurse Kaye: Calm down, Miss Clarabelle. Everything's fine. All paid.
Belle: Eh? Is my grandma here?
Nurse Kaye: No. But the doctor paid for all of it.
Belle: What? I have to thank him.
Nurse Kaye: He's busy. You can meet him after two weeks time.
Belle: Eh? I have to come back?
Nurse Kaye: Yes. We're observing you.
Belle: Thank you so much. Can I go home now?
Nurse Kaye: If you're feeling fine then you can. Here's my calling card. Call me when something's wrong, alrighty? She gave me a card with her name and contact in it. I nodded as I ready myself to go home.
A new day starts. My grandma was up early and noticed something unusual of me she said. I didn't tell her what happened yesterday that I was in the hospital. She has no clue. She cleaned my wounds and changed the covers. I went straight to the market to help Aunt Grace. People looked at me like I'm a ghost or something- even Aunt Grace. She's been staring at me until I finished helping her.Belle: Aunt Grace, you're creeping me out.
Grace: Are you really okay, Belle?
Belle: Yes, why?I lied. I feel sick actually. But I have to be productive every day. She put her hand on my forehead, she looked worried.
Grace: You look pale. You're like a corpse. I think you have to see a doctor.
Belle: What? No! I'm perfectly fine, Aunt. Please stop worrying.
Grace: Are you sure?
Belle: I am! Really. She smiled and nodded. That's okay with me. Now, I have to go to school. I waved her my goodbye and ran off.
To be honest, I feel weak. It's strange.
I have reached the school gate and saw someone standing there. It's the first. He waved at me and smiled.
Josh: Yo!
Belle: Eh?I point out to myself. Was he talking to me?
Josh: You're a bit late. Where were you?
Belle: Eh?Was he really waiting for me? I blushed.
Josh: Stop that. We have morning ceremonies. Let's go.
Ah. Right. I forgot about it.
We're off to the hall and a lot of student was there, waiting to start the ceremony. I noticed Jane, holding a pen and a notebook. That's very unsual. Usually, she holds out her phone and mirror. She looked at me like she's been observing me. Right. I forgot to thank her for helping me yesterday.
The ceremony is finally over. We went to our classroom for classes. My nose bleed again and again. My classmates keep on asking me if I'm okay. Cecille and Neil are worried. They keep on saying that I look pale. What is happening to me?
What's wrong is that Jane didn't bug me at all. Why is that? But she's been looking at me since morning.
