That day

*Lisa's POV*

It was a beautiful summer morning. I got up and opened a window to let some fresh air in. The sunrise was my favourite thing ever. It was like poetry or like old music- you can never get bored of it. Enough rambling.

I took a shower and got ready to go out with my friends. I took my purse and went out.

Chris, Hailey, and I got ice cream and stayed in a park just talking and laughing. Hailey was the sweetest human being and Chris- we knew each other from our singing lessons.

We were talking about some new TV shows when Chris's mom showed up unexpectedly. She was a nice lady, I respected her and always loved to have a word with her.

  "Hey girls" she said.

  "Hey" we replied.

"I have lunch break and nothing to do at work so I came to see y'all" a smile appeared on her tired face. She usually wore her hair down but that day she had put it in a bun.

"No way" I looked at her face. She surely reminded me of someone. I needed another minute to remember.

"Camila Mendes. You look like Camila Mendes" everyone laughed. I was a huge fan of the actress who played Veronica Lodge in Riverdale.

Time passed and we didn't seem to get tired. But a car pulled over. It was a black Ford- mom and dad's car. They came to drive me home as they were going too. I got in the car and greeted them.

We drove by some random building and dad pulled over. Mom told me to go with her. I never asked questions, I trusted them and I knew that if there was something they would tell me.

We went to the car trunk and there was a huge nylon and blood on it, I guess. Mom and I threw it away. I don't know why. We then went home.

Time passed and I seemed to had forgotten about this 'event'.

It was summer again but 2017, one of the best years. I had good grades and everything was fine. But then mom and dad decided to bring the past back.

Here's what they told me happened back in 2015. A woman with maybe mental illness got drunk. She was in an apartment. Maybe hers or someone else's. She had a gun. Downstairs, if I may say, was where Chris's family lived. During the time that woman got drunk Chris's dad and her little sister were home. Her name was Cassidy and she was still a baby.

Back to the woman with a gun. She was upstairs. She started shooting around and I am not sure what made her do that. Chris's dad felt that there was something bad that could happen. When it got silently and the shooting sounds stopped he grabbed the baby and went down the stairs. As quietly as he could. I could imagine how scared he was. His whole body probably shaking and his quietly sobbing sounds.

Unfortunately this was the moment that left scars on many people's lives. Chris's father was unlucky enough. A few stairs down he saw her. From what dad said she was middle age, her hair blone and her eyes brown. I even saw her in old news. She was a beautiful lady and I believe no one expected that to happen. And now we know why I was forbidden to watch news after we threw away the nylon.

After that final look the woman pointed the gun to Chris's father and then she ended his life and can you imagine...that a woman killed a father and an innocent child.

The only thing that was good-I am not sure if 'good' is the right word- dad was and still is a cop. Someone had called 911 and my dad happened to be in front of the buidling when that woman- I think devil sounds right for her- got out. He didn't think twice, thanks God! He shooted her. If he didn't we could still have her free and we all could live in fear.

Chris? She and her mother moved house far and away from us. I think her mom told her that she got divorced with her father and he got the baby. I never heard from Chris anymore and maybe that was the best decision for the situation.

After I heard this story I felt like something in my soul cracked. The reason why my parents told me this story was an explanation. They had decided to move house too. Away from there. To start again although we will never forget what happened back in 2015.

Everyday is important. One moment, one decision can change so much. We- people sometimes don't see this. And I hope that this 'event' as I called it earlier never happens to anyone.
