There once was a boy named Jack who was going to start school for the first time leaving the safety of his home unsure what to expect of the other students or the teachers. Jack's mom decided to walk him to school every day even though the walk was only 10 minutes away from their house only for one particular reason. There was one main traffic light they had to cross and the drivers in the area regardless if the school zone light was on they would zoom by so fast you could feel the wind push you slightly off your feet. Many times when they left their home going towards the elementary Jack's mom would try to teach her son to wait a bit before crossing for the drivers would pass the red light pretty often, and even almost hit her many times. On their way to the school they always passed many houses most of which all had puppies or cats, and one in particular did not like anyone walking near the fence and would bark every time they passed by. As they got closer to the school Jack was getting more nervous and wasn't sure what to say or to do, and when they finally got inside Jack stayed quite the whole time even after his Mom left. The school staff brought Jack to his class and began to show him where to hang his backpack and where to put his lunch box at as well. The room was full of lively colors, many toys everywhere, building blocks, books, and everything needed for a kindergarten elementary class. The teacher and other students in the class all introduced themselves one by one all the way until it was Jack's turn.

Jack was a very shy and very quite boy who kept to himself, and didn't feel comfortable talking in front of a class or even in a small group of 3 students. As school progressed the other classmates began to become friends with one another joining one another to pair up for group work, and even hanging out with one another during lunch and recess. All but one had friends to hangout or play with or to join up with for groups; and that was Jack. Every time when group work came up Jack felt sad that no one wanted to pair up with him, and it got to the point to where the teacher would either have to ask someone to pair up with him or the teacher had to pair up with him. It's not that Jack didn't care he just was a very shy and quite guy, but wanted friends to hangout with and friends to talk about to his parents. Every time he went home he told his parents he was doing good and had friends, but deep inside Jack knew this to not be true and that he was sad and alone.

Soon as months progressed classmates started to hangout with Jack out of nowhere and at first he originally thought they wanted to be his friend. He was so filled with so much joy and happiness for a few days that Jack was talking about them to his parents of every detail they all did together. When it came to doing group work after those few days had passed Jack thought someone would pair up with him, however, nothing had changed and it didn't take long for Jack to figure out that they weren't friends with him because they wanted to. They were friends with him only because they felt sorry for him and that no one wanted to be his friend.

It was bad enough that Jack felt like no one wanted to be his friend, but what was worse was that the teachers themselves start to treat Jack horrible. They started to push he needed to go to special education, and that he was going to be a trouble maker as well. All this wasn't from something Jack had done or said, but instead from how his sister behaved in school for she was older than he was. The teachers truly believed that just because how his sister acted that Jack would be the same. Instead of talking to Jack like how the teachers did with the other students they decided to either ignore him or be rude and disrespectful to him. Jack was so confused and didn't understand why he was being judged and treated differently from everyone else, and slowly started to close himself off from everyone. Sadly this went on for a few more months without a word to Jack's parents until eventually Jack's Dad heard what his son was going through. Jack's Dad went to the school and started to complain and get angry with the school and the teachers for how his son was being treated. It didn't take long for the school to correct the issue and things seems to be going back to normal, but to Jack he felt that nothing would change. But to keep something from happening like this at an early age Jack began to work on holding in his emotions inside and pretending to be happy. At home or at school he would say he was doing good and had no problems or issues from anyone and put on a fake smile.
