He continued walking unmindful of persons looking at him. He didn’t even notice that a girl is running towards him when both of them bumped at each other.

“I-I’m sorry miss. I haven’t noticed you running towards me. Are you okay?” Ricky asks as he help the girl pick her things on the ground.

“No, it’s okay and I’m sorry. I’m in a hurry. I’m trying to pay my fees at the cashier’s office,” the girl said and she tookher things from Ricky. “Uhm, I’ll better go now. Thank you for helping me.”

“Okay”, Ricky says and gave the last piece of notebook to the girl.

The girl went to the cashier’s office while Ricky went to the room for his first class in English 101. When he entered the room, all eyes were on him. He sat down in a chair located at the back portion of the room and never spoke a word. His classmates were in silence when their professor entered the room.

“Good morning freshmen and welcome to UE. I’m Professor Debbie Reyes and I will be your English 101 teacher for the whole semester. Before we begin our class, please pass your filled up class card”, their professor said as soon as she entered the room. Then the students passed their class cards. “If I called out your name, please stand up and introduce yourself. Ricky San Diego.”

Ricky stand up and said, “Good morning everyone. I’m Ricky San Diego, 16 years of age and taking up Bachelor of Science in Music Education.”

“Thank you. I do believe that BME students are talented. Can you sing to us, please?” ask Professor Reyes.

“Yes ma’am”’ Ricky answered and start singing the chorus of the song Maybe by King.

When Ricky was done singing, all his classmates and the professor clap at him.

“Thank you Ricky. No doubt that you have a talent in singing. It’s a wise decision of yours to study here. In no time, we will be seeing the next Erik Santos or Christian Bautista on television.” Professor Reyes boasted.

“Thank you for the compliment ma’am.”

“You’re welcome.” Professor Reyes answered and went back on calling the names of the whole class. After the students introduced themselves to the class, the bell rang 15 minutes ahead of time. Professor Reyes dismissed them and left the room for a faculty meeting.

Meanwhile, Ricky went to the school canteen for a snack. While eating, a girl approached him and said, “Excuse me. May I join you?”

Ricky stared at the girl. It was the one he met on the hallway.

“Sure. Have a seat.” Ricky answered.

“Thank you”, the girl said and put down her things. “By the way, I’m Myka de los Santos. You are?”

“Ricky San Diego. By the way, have you finished paying your fees?”

“Yes. Luckily for me, it is still not imposing payment for late enrollees.”

“Lucky for you. What course are you taking up?” Ricky asked again.

“Music Education. How about you?”

“I’m also taking up Music Education.” Ricky answered and then there was silence between them. “I’ll go first. I still have a class.”

“Okay. Nice meeting you Ricky.” Myka said and waved to Ricky.
