Two Weeks Later

It had become a habit for Ruby to go up onto the roof every night and hear Weiss sing. It was a nice way to relax from the stress of her orientation into school, and in return, Ruby would bring Weiss food every night. It was usually cookies, but Weiss couldn't complain.

"These cookies may just be the best I've had." Weiss moaned through her bites. "You must tell me what you put in them, right now!"

"My mom taught me that the secret ingredient in all things is love." Ruby repeated, as she had for the past week.

Weiss blushed slightly under the pale moonlight, hiding it beneath another cookie. "Do you really mean that? Or is it a catchphrase of sorts?"

"Hm?" Ruby responded, "I'm not sure what you mean."

"Surely you've heard the rumors about Downtown Vale, haven't you? The day I met you was the seventh day since I had moved here, and it was the day you arrived here."

The words swam in Ruby's head, bringing her back to what Yang said. "Oh... um..." Ruby began to blush as well, failing to cover it with her shirt.

The silence was just under deafening, as the wind swirled around them, causing Weiss' hair to flow. "Screw it." Weiss muttered, before thrusting herself over the plate beneath them and planting a rough kiss onto Ruby's lips. Ruby's eyes shot open as she received the kiss, then returned it slowly. Neither of them drew back for a while, savoring the lingering taste of cookies in each other's mouths. When Weiss finally pulled away, she apologized and blushed even more.

"Weiss..." Ruby started, "If you want, you can come down and I can teach you how to make the cookies."

"I'll come, but I prefer you make the cookies still." Weiss replied, offering her hand to Ruby.

The two kissed again in the pale moonlight, this time much softer. It would be the next chapter in the legacy of Downtown Vale.
