I'm woken up by the familiar sound of my god damned alarm. It's quite unnerving really how the sound of a single beep persistently causes me to scream childishly and hide timidly under my duvet. I shake my head in pure embarrassment as I give myself a stern lecture about growing up a little and fixing my immature behavior.

Unable to withdraw myself from the warmth of my duvet I uncontrollably roll out of my bed and thankfully, instead of landing on the hard wooden floor, I have the soft protection of my duvet to save me.

I do my best to get ready quickly however I take my time to attempt a successful side braid. I fail miserably and as a last resort- retreat to the usual lop sided messy bun.

On my way out the door I grab my tangled earphones and spend the majority of the bus ride in silence determined to untangle them.

After the familiar rush to get off the crowded bus is over I make my way over to where I know my friends will be seated.

I shove my way cautiously past the mass of people rushing up the overcrowded staircase, I am instantly distracted by a captivating set of bright green eyes, shining livelier than stars in a night sky. I feel unable to withdraw my own dull-gray eyes from the sea green pools of his. I try my hardest to resist staring any longer, but the powerful urge to continue, overtakes the helpless guilt of it.

After a good 30 seconds of staring at his enchanting eyes, I notice he's peculiarly styled hair. The twisted brown mop on his head was a unique and intriguing style, which on any other guy would look hideous! Somehow, it looked attractive on him.

Come to think of it - everything about him was attractive. The way his tan skin contrasted perfectly with his plump coral lips, the way his tall thin figure towered over those of his fellow students. The way his burnished cheeks lit up his ever so gentle, and youthful face.

He was different. He had a style like no other and for that, I envied him. I could tell he wasn't the type to follow trends when I noticed his outfit. He wore a simple grey T-shirt, (at least 3 sizes too big for him). His jeans were pitch black, and looked uncomfortably tight, suffocating even. Beneath his faded sneakers were an odd pair of long black socks, only one of which sported white stripes.

Finally tearing myself from my trance-like state, I realise I was not only 5 minutes late to class but found myself standing conspicuously alone on the staircase. Just me... and the subject of my profound curiosity.

"You okay? You look slightly lost," he said in a deep raspy voice.

"Me? Oh no... I just uhhhh, misplaced my English book" I lied, unable to hide my unintentional shaking.

He smiled warmly, revealing glistening white teeth.

"I haven't seen you before. I'm Harry, and you are?" He asked raking his hair with equally evident nerves.

"Kate" I managed to reply in a flustered tone, hoping he hadn't detected the fear behind my plastered smile.

"Well, I'll see you around Kate" he added, leaving me with an innocent smile and a slow waving hand.

And with that he was gone.

Within minutes, I had become completely infatuated by a boy with whom I'd shared only a mere matter of words. A boy with style, originality and an obvious caring heart.
