Natalie and the others were in the middle of chaos.

            Everyone was panicking!

The teachers were trying to calmly handle student body, but a lot were goofing around or just plain terrified. Especially when they were told that it wasn’t a tornado drill, but an evacuation drill. That just caused more confusion…

“Hey, Jade! Where’s Gina?!” Mrs. Terence asked as she came toward the small group.

Jade, Natalie, Al, and Jaron looked behind them, but saw nobody resembling Gina on their trail.

“She said she would be right behind us.” Jade said over the noise.

Mrs. Terence frowned, though there was concern in her eyes.

“I better go get her…” Mrs. Terence said at the same time a earth shattering shriek broke through the air.

They all looked in the direction of the scream, and each managed to catch a glimpse of blood splattering in every direction. There were animal like grunts coming from the people attacking that person, meanwhile others had moved away and panicked. There was a lot of screaming as other similar cases appeared.

“It’s a bloodbath.” Jaron stated the obvious.

“What’s going on?!” Jade exclaimed in horror.

“Those are…zombies.” Mrs. Terence said shakily, “They’ve somehow appeared out of nowhere! Some students found out, and we made the evacuation drill…”

“Now what?” Al asked, “Are we just going to stand here and die?”

“Not on my watch!” Gina said appearing before the group with a crowbar in one hand, “I’m going to get you guys out of here.”

            “How?” Natalie asked.

“Well…” Gina said looking around until she spotted what she had been looking for, “Follow me!”

With the crowbar she fended off attacks, and managed to add a lot of unharmed people to their group… Until finally they reached the door she had been aiming for. With one try at the doorknob, she knew it was locked.

“Mrs. Terence, where’s Mr. Warden?” Gina asked.

“He was at the side entrance’s blockading the doors.” Mrs. Terence said.

“Here take this.” Gina said handing Al her crowbar.

            “Huh…but—” Al started to protest.

“Protect them or else.” Gina threatened as she moved from out of the group and away into the chaos.

On the way, she managed to make people team up and start heading in the direction of the door she’d led her group to. Walking pass many of the fallen and some zombies, she tried dodging any sort of attack. Finally she reached the side entrance Mr. Warden was at.

He was definitely blockading the door, but his back was open to attacks, which he didn’t seem aware of. Thankfully, Gina had arrived just in time to see a zombie creep onto the unsuspecting teacher. Without thinking she attacked the zombie by straddling it from behind, then with one fluent twist, she ripped its head off…

Blood spurted out onto the floor, and onto her face. With disgusted look on her face, she jumped off its back before the body began to fall forward onto the ground with an audible ‘thump’. Mr. Warden jumped around startled…

            “Gina?!” Mr. Warden exclaimed.

“Sir, I need you to come back with me.” Gina stated.

“Ah…but the doors…” Mr. Warden argued.

“We have bigger problems.” Gina said waving for him to follow her.

With a slump of his shoulders, he followed her when she began to lead. Every second or so, Gina would glance back at the teacher behind her to make sure he was safe. They were very close to reaching the safe group in front of the door, when a group of zombies seemed to suddenly surround them.

“Mr. Warden, I’m going to distract them, meanwhile you will run towards that huge group over there, and open that door for them.” Gina muttered under her breath to the teacher, “Understood?”

            Mr. Warden nodded.

“Duck, now.” Gina ordered the teacher.

            He ducked low.

Breathing in deeply, Gina suddenly jump kicked all the surrounding zombies with a mid air body twist. They all fell down with little struggle, but they all to soon begin to struggle back up. Gina grimaced…

            “Run.” Gina told the teacher,

He ran toward the safe huge group.

“Come and get me!” Gina taunted not knowing if the monsters could even hear, or understand her.

They each in turn reached out to grab for her, their glazed gray eyes seeing nothing. Gina managed to dodge a lot of their grabs, but suddenly one tried to take a bite of one of her hands, so she jerked back out of its reach only to bump right into another one. This one managed to scratch her on her shoulder before she could get away from it.

Feeling flushed from the heat, and how closely surrounded by the zombies that she was, she was starting to get panicky.

“Gina, run!” Al suddenly exclaimed when he appeared with the crowbar and started striking down zombies.

Natalie, Jade, and Les another one of her friends also appeared. They each had a weapon in turn, and were batting away at the monsters. Gina finally found an opening in the zombies surrounding her, but she was still a foot away from her friends…

She dove past the zombies, and was one step closer to her friends, when she felt a searing hot pain go through her stomach.

Feeling sick, she turned to stare at the zombie that was kneeling down at one side, and saw that it had blood on its gnarl hand, which held a chunk of fresh meat. With a hazy gaze of shock, she looked at her stomach, but all she could make out was a bloody mess of red. Trying to breath calmly, she walked as steadily as possible to her group of friends.

“Good. You managed to get out of that circle of zombies, now lets go!” Jade said as she grabbed Gina’s hand and began to tug at her to follow behind the group as they moved toward the old rusted door, Gina had led everyone to, it was one of the many entrances into the schools underground tunnels.
