She screamed soundlessly.
It was a terrible thing.
To lack the ability to express yourself in the most obvious and reflexive way possible.
It doubles your panic rate, triples your heart rate.
Your fear becomes amplified.
It was quite overwhelming for a twelve year old girl, and Gwendolyn could not help but think, as the wind swept up her hair according to the pelt she was running, that had Mommy never insisted upon her constant and persistent participation in her school's gymnastics despite Gwen's adamance, her little body might not have been well adept with the ability to withstand the pressure, pain and panic that had enveloped her a shocking number of times now in such a short period and her muscles would have failed her limbs miserably, their excuse being lack of proper use and training.

So,as Gwendolyn ran--a good thirty metres ahead of the burly men hot on her tail,I must add--she could not help but offer a short prayer of thanks to Mommy in heaven.

"Gwen!!"

Her steps faltered.

That was Asunción's voice.

"Gwen,stop running!Please,I beg you!"

Gwendolyn frowned.

Huh?Why on earth would Asunción tell me something like that? I am being chased by beasts!I have to keep running! I have to--

Gwendolyn ploughed hard into a wall.

Time suspended for a nanosecond as all her thoughts and brain cells jumbled together in incoherence and vibrated in her head.

She had little time to look up as her body gave way to the ground and haziness took over her system. Then she realized she hadn't slammed into a wall.

She had slammed into The Wall.
