Chapter Three
~Violet's POV~
"First day at a new school." My loud mouth, annoying ass best friend shouts to wake me up. Why is she in my room? I don't know. That's a great question that I would love for you to get the answer to.
"Teegan Quinn, can you learn to just not?" I send a death glare at her, beyond annoyed right now.
"Violet Jade, can you learn to just wake up before noon? I mean damn, all you ever do is sleep. Maybe if you didn't stay up till ungodly hours of the night, you would be less cranky." Oh here we go again. She does not approve of my sleep schedule and never lets me hear the end of it. I am a night owl. She is a day bird. That much is clear.
"Get out of my room." I groan, throwing the blankets over my head.
"Get out of bed." She mocks, ripping the blankets away from me.
"Tee." I whine, pouting my lip.
"Go." She points towards my bathroom, a hand on her hip and a stern expression on her face. I roll my eyes, but nonetheless get ready. I throw on the first articles of clothing I find - which consists of a plain purple shirt, black skinny jeans, and my black converse. I throw a brush through my hair, brush my teeth, and spray some body spray on before skipping downstairs. Tee throws me a banana and we head out towards the new school.
"What do you think it'll be like?" I wonder, looking out the window as she drives us there.
"Like before, Vi. Just like before. Hell." I hear her sigh. She has such a gloomy look on it all. I know it just comes from reality, but I wish things weren't that way. I wish there was hope in the world. But I know she's right. No sense in dreaming about the perfect, fictional world. That's why books are my escape. Anything is possible.
"Well why don't we go check it out?" I say as she pulls into the parking lot. The building is so old and beautiful. It looks intimidating by how big it is. She pulls into the first parking spot she sees and we share a look. I take a deep breath, before getting out of the car. This day will make or break the rest of your high school career, Vi. Don't mess it up.
We make our way to the office and get our class schedules. Sadly almost none of our classes are together. We have one class together. Sixth period. Literature.
"Hey, I'll see you at lunch." She flashes me a smile before she's off to find her classes. I head off in the opposite direction, looking for homeroom.
"You really need to learn to watch where you're going." A deep voice says, I look up to see that the voice belongs to Mr. Mysteriously-Cold-Hottie. Okay I didn't run into him this time. I almost did. There's a difference.
"Your name's Jaxton, right?" I remember last night his friend telling Tee. He looks confused for a moment, before realization washes over him and he looks over at his friend by his side.
"You know, I don't think it's fair that you know my name but I don't know yours." He raises an eyebrow at me.
"Violet." I tell him. I don't know why I tell him, I just do. I feel like I can trust him, but I also feel something else. Something different. Something bad.
"Violet." He hums, my name rolling off of his tongue perfectly. He shares a look with Zander I believe is the name before they both turn, round a corner, and are gone. Just like that. I shake my head, confused. Back to my classroom hunt.
The day passes like nothing. Just a lot of weird stares. Tee ditched me at lunch, which is completely unlike her. I sigh, picking up my books from fifth period and making my way to sixth. I find it relatively easy.
"Did you actually sit in MY seat?" A loud pitched, annoying preppy voice is heard. I turn to see the evil eyed brunette sending daggers at me.
"And who are you?" I ask, raising an eyebrow in mock interest.
"Who am I? You must be joking." She laughs along with her blonde little sidekick and the guys who seem like they follow her around like lost little puppies.
"Oh I'm dead serious and I'm also not moving. One thing I've learned throughout this day is that all the classes have open seating, so take your scrawny little ass somewhere else to sit." I snap. She looks furious. The cup in her drink is crushed by her hand and the drink goes everywhere. She comes close to me.
"You listen here you little good for nothing brat, you will move before I count to three or I'll wrap my hands around your neck and squeeze until you fall out of that chair." She hisses. Suddenly she's pulled away from me and Teegan's by my side.
"Vi, are you okay?" Worry is evident on her features.
"I'm fine." I say, glaring at the girl. She's held back by Zander. Jaxton looks at me in curiosity. Like I'm a puzzle he can't solve. Zander and Jaxton share a look, before Jaxton is by my side helping me into the hallway.
"I'm taking you to the office. Zander'll get Laura taken care of but you'll just skip that class today." He walks me to the office, explains what happened, then heads out. The lady lets me sit in there until the bell rings signalling the last period of the day. I make my way there and keep my head down. Tee suggests staying in tonight and I agree. We watch movies until we both fall asleep. Friday passes quickly. I just continue to keep my head down, everyone's curious glances about kill me. Hopefully the weekend causes everyone to forget. Maybe by Monday everyone'll just stop whispering. No one will care anymore.
