Drew's POV
I sat up quickly thinking I heard something, a loud thump. Getting out of bed I walked through the hall, going straight to May's room. Just to check on her that's all. I knocked on the door, hearing no reply. Several minutes later I opened the door, stepping inside the room.May's bed was empty. I walked deeper into the room, closing the door behind me. "May?" I called out. The comforter was missing from the bed. Lighting struck outside, illuminating the room. There, was where I saw her. May was sitting with her knees to her chest, on top of her dresser. The comforter wrapped around her. "May? What's wrong?" I asked, she shook her head and jumped again when the thunder hit. Was it possible she was scared...? I sighed and did the most rational thing I could think of.
I climbed up there with her. I took part of the blanket from her, wrapping it around myself as well. I sat cross-legged, pulling her into my lap. I wrapped the blanket around us both, while she buried her face in my shirt. I felt my shirt wet with fresh tears, but decided to ignore it. "May, are you afraid of storms?" I asked. A soft nod in reply. "Why didn't you say anything before?" I asked. No reply. Deciding to let it go, pulled her closer and rested my chin on her head. Soon the tears had stopped and I assumed she had passed out, her breathing soft and light. I leaned back against the wall and before I knew it, I was out myself.I soon woke up the next morning, my back stiff from sleeping on a dresser. Why did I ever think this would be a good idea? I looked down at May, who looked content and peaceful. Oh well it was worth it. I shifted slightly, to ease the pain, which caused May to grip onto my shirt tighter. I sighed and carded my left hand through her hair gently, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. I yawned and looked around the room.
I managed to pull my phone out of my pajama pants pocket and scrolled through my apps. About half an hour later, May woke up. She yawned softly and looked around, sleepily. Then she looked up at me. A moment of confusion, then realization. She shrugged and layed back down on me. "This dresser is uncomfy." She mumbled. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I shifted and she gripped my shirt, her eyes already closed again. "Don't move." She mumbled. "I'm sure your bed is much more comfy." I suggested. She glanced up at me and opened her arms, wanting to be picked up. I rolled my eyes, but a smiled stretched across my face. I sat up and got off the dresser, then picked her up. She hooked her ankles together around my waist and arms around my neck. She began to place sleepy kisses to my face and jaw, only pausing to nuzzle me.
When I made it over to the bed I layed her down, much to her disappointment. She opened her arms again and I layed down next to her, she immediately attached herself to me. The sunlight that poured through, from behind the curtains, illuminated her face. I caressed her cheek gently and she nuzzled me tiredly. I pulled the blankets over us both and soon she was passed out again. I didn't want to fall asleep and miss such a sight, but sleep, much to my protest, came to me.
