The sky was dark and clouded. The past few days was without any sun or even stars in the sky. Nothing but rain, thunder and lightning strikes. Yelling could be heard in the distance, like orders were being given. You crouched behind a boulder, holding your rifle close to your chest. The rain began to fall in sheets, clawing at your face. You winced, swearing that the rain even made a scratch, although it hadn't. Jack was squatting at your side, gun in hand, as he peered over the boulder. All he cared about was making sure that you were safe. The relationship between you two had grown stronger over the few years, ever since you joined Overwatch. The yelling died down, then silence. Jack turned his glance down at you, checking to see if you were still alright. You weren't brought into many fights even though you've been here for a few years. You were staring out into the distance, breathing heavily. Jack didn't want to see you like this, but you wanted to help. He saw that you were panicked and scared. So was he. Right now really wasn't the time to talk about how much everyone needed help to fight. It was to protect the headquarters.

"(Y/N)..." He muttered as he sat at your side. "Everything is going to be alright. We have to move now before they get here." Others that were fighting with you both were already set and kept their eyes out for whoever shot first. You looked at him with wide eyes. Just as you opened your mouth to say something, bullets began to sky overhead, making you scream and hold your gun closer. Jack grabbed your arm, dragging you behind a building.

Use the skills you learned during training...Stay back and shoot." He fixed the way you held the rifle, running off afterwards. You stood there, knees shaking, watching him run off. You peered around the corner and aimed at the enemies, shooting them down, along with missing a few.

"You could do better than that." A low growl came from behind you. Before you could turn around, you were trapped in a headlock, making you drop your gun. You brought your hands to the man's arm, trying to pull his arm away. He was just too strong. The things you were taught from training didn't really click in since you were so tense. You didn't know what to do, this guy could just snap your neck at any moment. The man had tightened his grip. You gasp, losing air. You were helpless. He smirked and let out a small laugh. Suddenly, gunshots were shot towards you and the man. The man's hold against you had loosened and he fell to the ground, bleeding out. You stared at the body of the man in complete shock. After a few moments, pain had stuck your left shoulder. You groaned and leaned against the wall, holding onto your shoulder. Your hand felt wet.

"Huh?..." You lifted your hand and saw red covering your palm. Someone fighting along with you had shot the guy and apparently shot you too, by accident. Your breathing began to be ragged, putting pressure on the wound, eyes wide as you saw the man, who shot you, run over.

"Oh my god (Y/N)! Are you ok?!" He looked around. "Come with me." He took your hand and began to run with you to a safer place. As you two were running, the man suddenly collapsed, letting go of your hand. You gasped and ducked behind a boulder. You winced when you moved your arm the wrong way, tightening your grip on the wound.

"Fuck..." Growling under your breath as you leaned against the rock. "Where is Angela when you need her..." Someone ran past you, followed by Jack, who stopped in front of you, shooting someone down. He got down to your level.

"God (Y/N)...What happened?...Come on." He helped you up carefully, leading you to a small shed.

You walked in and looked outside the door, seeing people falling and dying. Jack put his hand on your cheek, making your attention go back to him.

"You have to stay here until everything is over. Don't come back out. I'll be back to get you." He looked into your eyes with a reassuring look. Those blue eyes still had that spark from when you first met. You just melted while looking into them.
