7: What Does It Mean?

I was pacing the room, thinking about what the riddle from White meant. I tried everything else the past week, building a portal, doing spells, everything. Nothing worked. I unleashed a demon once if that counts. The demon was a peaceful one and left to go to a place it could be alone. Yet that still wasn't Natalie.

"What does it mean?" I asked pacing around the room. "What does it mean?" I hit the desk and then rubbed my hands. There were going to be bruises on my hand, but I didn't care. I kept walking around the room, hoping that I can figure it out.

I sighed and walked out of the room. I was going to get a drink when all of a sudden I felt tired. I just grabbed my drink and went to my bed. A little rest wouldn't hurt anything. I might even think of the answer while I was sleeping. I laid down and went to sleep.

Now I wish I hadn't. The dream I had was terrible. I was looking at a girl with blonde hair in a pony tail, her ocean blue eyes behind purple glasses. She had blood all over her arms, feet, and face. She was hugging her knees, laying down like she just wanted to die and not have to suffer the pain any more. It hurt to look at Natalie like this, trapped in the golden cage. I walked over and placed my hand on her shoulder, not thinking she was feel it. So imagine my surprise when she looked up, looking me straight in the eyes.

"Egon?" she asked. I smiled at her and she wrapped her arms around my neck, tears falling down in joy. "Egon!"

"Natalie!" I cried hugging back. It may have been a dream, but it was worth it, just to hug her again, see her safe and sound in my arms.

"I missed you so much," she whispered, then pulled away quickly, fear in her eyes. "But you won't like me."

"Why not?" I asked trying to take her hand. She yanked it away.

"I- I did something bad," she whispered. She turned away crying.

"What did you do?"

"I killed him," she sobbed. I took her arm and turned her around. I wiped her eyes and smiled at her.

"No you didn't," I told her. She made a sniffle nose and looked up at me.

"I- I didn't?" she asked, still crying.

"Ellis is still alive. You didn't kill him."

"Then did I kill you? Is that why you are here?"

"Natalie, you didn't kill anyone. Trust me." I looked at her arms and touched one of the blood spots thinking it was dry. She winched in pain and when I pulled my hand back I saw blood on it. I looked has she held her arm to stop the blood from coming out. "Natalie, you're hurt."

"Egon, just drop it," she told me.

"Natalie if you are hurt, let me help. No wonder White said you were losing strength fast."

"White?" she asked has I sat her down in front of me and teared off pieces of the blanket in the corner. I would have felt bad about it if there weren't three more for her to use. I wrapped her arms in legs were the marks were, all of them shallow but large. I didn't know anything that could cause this. I cleaned and then I placed my make do bandage on her.

"White was the one who saved Ellis. Her spirit is floating around since you got captured."

"Do you think she could...?"

"I already asked. She said Ligen's powers are far greater than her own. She told me she would do it if she could. She also told me the way to free you is by solving a riddle since she can't tell me what it means."

"A riddle? Then you should be able to do it."

"Sometimes a brother's love is greater then anything else."

"What does it mean?"

"I don't know Nat. I'm sorry. I'm trying, but when I think I have it, it turns out that I don't. I just want my sister back," I whispered looking at my hands. She placed her hands in mine, making me look up with a smile.

"That's all you can do," she said wiping tears. "Try. Egon, you're fading away."

"What?" I asked looking at my hands. I was starting to be able to see through them. "No, I don't want to leave you again!"

"I don't want you to go," she agreed. "But you're not trapped in the book. I am. You'll find me. I know it."

"I'll miss you Natalie," I told her, giving her a huge hug. She hugged me back, my body disappearing every second.

"I'll miss you too."

"I love you."

"I love you."

I woke up with a start, tears falling down my face. I saw her. I saw Natalie. I talked to Natalie. I hugged Natalie. Yet I couldn't save Natalie. But why in this dream could I touch and talk with her when in others I was only watching Natalie.

"It's because of me," I heard someone say. I looked in the corner to see a woman with short black hair and purple eyes looking at me. She had these orange Celtic markings on her arms. She walked over to me with a smile on her face, not really taking her eyes off of me.

"Who are you?" I asked. She smiled even more.

"I'm Cora Stones," she answered. "Don't worry, I'm a friend."

"What do you want?"

"Like I said, I'm a friend. White sent me to let you talk to Natalie since my powers are greater then hers. I'm only here to let you talk with her. Nothing else."

"What are your powers?"

"Any you can imagine."

"Are you going to stay?"

"No. I have things to do and people to care for. But if you even need me Egon, I'll come flying over here. Good luck in saving your sister."

She pulled off her jacket and out of her back were two fiery wings. She opened the window and flew away. I got out of bed and ran to see her. She was gone. I sighed and looked at my hands.

Ligen had hurt Natalie. Not mentally this time. He physically hurt her, or let her be hurt. I glared at my hands and remembered my promise to him. I'll make you pay. Ellis might be dead, but I was still going to make Ligen regret the day he messed with my family, starting with Natalie.

Isn't that sweet? I ask that a lot, haha. So I have to give rights to one of my stars. She knows who she is since I am not putting every one of her names on here. She is a really cool person and happens to be writing a Ghostbuster fanfic also. It's the 5 Ghostbusters. I'm letting her use Natalie cause I am cool like that, so she let me use her character, Cora. So the rights of that woman at the end goes out to her! I hope I got her right! That's all I got. Peace out my Stars!
