Today is my last day of summer vacation before my senior year, and I can not find the courage to pull myself out of bed.
"EMILY!!!! Get down here now! This house isn't going to clean itself!! God, I swear you are worthless!" My mother, Diane, screams down the hall for me. Well I have to get out of bed now.
I stand up of my "bed", which is just one blanket laid on the floor and a torn up pillow, as I begin to walk out of my tiny bedroom I catch a slight glimpse of myself out of the corner of my eye. As I turn to look at my broken mirror, I see the big, fat black eye in which my mother had given me the day before.
"HURRY THE HELL UP!!" I quickly try to cover up my once blue eye with my long dirty blonde hair. You see I have to keep my hair long to hide all the marks that I receive, after adjusting my hair i threw on some very holy clothes and ran downstairs.
My family is not poor, in fact my mother is quite rich its just she doesn't care enough about me. She just thinks I am some burden placed upon her.
"You should've died that day." Diane grabs my arm firmly, the smell of alcohol on her breathe.
Great, shes drunk....again.
"It is not even 6:30, and of course you're already drunk. Typical." That comment earned me another punch to the face.
