Simon Minter was not the biggest or strongest sophomore there was out for lacrosse. Sure he could pass and catch, but he also could get thrown to the ground by a senior more than likely. At least, that had been true. Simon definitely wasn't getting shoved around by the senior captain, Josh Bradley, at Monday's practice. If anything, he was shoving Josh around. And Josh didn't like it. Even Simon's bestfriend, Ethan Payne, seemed surprised by Simon's sudden strength.

"Hey, man, what's up with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You threw off Josh Bradley out there! Josh Bradley, Simon."

"It was probably nothing, Ethan. Maybe he's just...having a bad day?"

"Hey, Minter! Think you showed off in front of your little girlfriend enough?" Josh yelled, walking out of the shower. Josh was referring to you. You'd come to Beacon Hills for the new school and you'd already hit it off with Josh's girlfriend, Y/F/N. You didn't know anything really about lacrosse, so she'd had you sit with her during practice.

"I heard Simon had his mom's car...maybe you could convince him to drive you home." Y/F/N wiggled her eyebrows as she said it. You rolled your eyes in response. It was a ridiculous suggestion. You'd said one word to Simon, and that was to say high in your shared history class where you sat next to him. He didn't seem interested. He'd barely even acknowledged that you'd said a word!"

"I'm sure he just wants to go home. I'll figure something out."

"Figure what out?" Josh grabbed Y/F/N and kissed her rather lewdly. You blushed and looked away, noticing a few of the other players standing around.

"Y/N needs a ride home!"

"Oh, I'm sure Simon could take her. Couldn't you, Minter?" Simon looked like a deer in the headlights. He was looking between you and Josh, trying to respond. No way was the new girl considering going with him right?

"I-uh...yeah I could, uh, take her."

"Do you mind, Simon? If you're busy I can find some other way home."

"No! I mean...It's perfectly fine. I'll take you."

Simon let you into his car and you made it most of the way to your house before it became painfully obvious that something was going on.

"Simon, are you okay?"

"Get...out."

"Simon-"

"Get out! Go! Just get away from here-"

His eyes were glowing. They weren't the bright blue you'd seen earlier. They were a glowing amber. You scrambled away, making your way home. Your breathing was ragged and short. What had that been? People's eyes didn't glow like that.

You couldn't even look Simon in the eye the next day. You were too scared. He tried to talk to you. He tried to apologize, but you couldn't even find words to say. What was there to say? Were you supposed to just brush it off? You couldn't brush that off.

"Y/N-"

"What do you want me to say, Simon? Oh no it's perfectly fine your eyes were glowing, Simon. You were acting like you were insane."

"I know...I'm sorry. I-I wasn't feeling well."

"That's and understatement."

"Look, can you just meet me at the vet clinic at...four thirty? I'll explain as best I can."

"If your eyes are glowing and you act weird, I'll leave."

"I don't blame you."

You met Simon at the vet clinic at four thirty. He was trying to calm down a dog. He hadn't seen you yet, but the dog seemed more than happy to see you. In fact, Simon might not have noticed you if the dog hadn't broken loose and come running over to you.

"Y/N."

"You better explain, Simon."

"I'll try. This is going to sound really weird, but you have to believe me."

"Simon-"

"Please. I was out in the woods a few nights ago. And I don't remember all of it, but something bit me. After that, I felt...different. I don't know how to explain it completely. I felt better. I didn't need my inhaler and I felt stronger. I know this is all crazy, Y/N. I'm sorry but-"

"Simon, this is crazy. You can't-YOUR EYES ARE GLOWING." Simon tried to cover his eyes as you backed up. He blinked and his eyes were their normal color again.
