It'd taken Liam Payne a full four months to get Niall's attention. He played on the football team which meant that he was automatically a prick to anyone who wasn't a part of that clique. But he wasn't. He'd never treated anyone unfairly he was more so in the back. But he never understood why it was do damn hard to get through to Niall.
Niall, always had his head in a book, he was always either in the library, or under a tree reading, he minded his own business, nobody bothered him really, he was just there. He hadn't caused problems with anyone, and he'd spent time helping people in class when they didn't understand something. Hell, half the kids would go to him just to ask if they could copy his homework, but if that kept him reserved to himself and out of trouble, he didn't care.
Every time Liam so much tried walking up to Niall to talk, he'd shut his book, and walk off without a word. At first Liam thought he was playing hard to get. He'd finally caught the blond's attention, he'd headed into the library, and looked at the books utterly confused. Niall saw him, and noticed he was looking in the section of romances.
"I wouldn't recommend any book from here, you look confused. You seem like more of a sports magazine kind of guy." Niall viewed the section most of which he'd already read, they're library had a small variety of books, and most of them took him about 2 hours to finish. With no social life, he'd used most his time for reading, besides when he'd gone home. He didn't often watch tv, or go on the computer, but when he was watching it was to help with all of his hormonal problems. Liam practically smirked hearing the Irish boy speaking.
"Hey, I wouldn't judge a book by its cover." Liam chuckled.
"Oh!" Niall exclaimed. "You're a human last I checked, wrong or not?" He'd wittily replied, crossing his arms.
"You understood what I meant though." The brunet boy was flustered at the moment, which was very rare for him to be seen in such a way, he held his head high, and was confident. Niall simply rolled his eyes, and uncrossed his arms.
"You're making a stupid joke because I read, but I will judge you, you're just as bad as I thought." Niall walked up to the table a few feet away grabbed his bookbag, and swung it over his shoulders, leaving the library.
God, now he'd felt like an absolute prick, he didn't think Niall would be do offended by it. He wanted to understand why the boy he'd been crushing on was so interested in books and reading and ended up at Barnes and Noble later on that night. He'd headed to the mystery selection, and read a few descriptions and couldn't find himself interested. He grumbled after half an hour of looking, and began walking down the aisles not even really looking, but stopping once or twice when he'd seen a book that looked interesting. When he was ready to leave he spotted the familiar blond headed boy standing in a selection of all their new books.
Liam walked up to him cautiously. "Niall." He'd softly said making sure not to startle the boy, who'd looked very interested in the book.
"God. Why here? Could you just leave me alone?" He huffed setting the book down. Liam noticed the receipt in his hand, not just one but several.
"Returning books?" Liam inqired.
"No, I buy a book, return it and get a new one. It's not hard to keep a book in good condition especially when you keep it for 2 hours. I live a few blocks away, and I returned a few this week to get ready for the long spring break. Now please leave me alone." Niall turned now facing the top sellers book selection, he wasn't interested since he'd read most of them but pretended to be.
"Spring break isn't long?" If anything Liam thought they deserved more than ten days, they'd gone to school for so long and only got ten days off. It wasn't enough.
