One Week Later

"Eliza, there's another letter for you," Angelica called out from the living room. She was sorting through the mail from earlier in the day. Eliza looked up briefly, processing what her sister had said. She quickly jumped out of her bed and ran to find Angelica. The letter was sitting on the coffee table for her. She grabbed it and ran back into her room, ecstatic to read it.

Eliza carefully ripped open the envelope and unfolded the letter.

My Dear Eliza,

Alexander had taken the time to write her the most beautiful love letter. She held tightly to her chest and sighed happily. This had been the third letter he had sent her this week. Eliza reread it many times, memorizing the way his signature looked.

Ever Yours,
A. Hamilton

Eliza gently set the letter into a box where she kept the previous letters. She pulled out a pen and started to write back to him. Sure, she could just send him a text, but it wasn't the same as sending and receiving a letter that would last longer.

She finished the letter and dug through her desk for an envelope and stamp. Eliza stuck the letter into an envelope and closed it off. A stamp was stuck on the corner. She quickly wrote his address on the envelope and left her room to put it in the mailbox.

"What are you doing?" Eliza turned around the corner to see Angelica standing with her arms crossed.

She held up an envelope, making sure the address was facing her. "Sending a letter," Eliza told her. She still hadn't told her sisters that she met Alexander Hamilton and they were exchanging letters.

Angelica nodded. "To who?"

That's when Eliza started to panic. Should I tell them? She took a deep breath, deciding it was best if she told the truth. "Alexander Hamilton," she finally said.

Her sister's eyes grew wide. "And why are you, of all people, sending a letter to him?" Eliza could hear the concern in her voice.

"He's just a friend. I met him at the party you took me to about a week ago," Eliza explained, nervously.

Angelica raised an eyebrow. "Just a friend? You're sure about that? Because when I saw you two on the bench, you looked madly in love," she snatched the letter out of Eliza's hand.

"No!" Eliza screeched. She tried grabbing for the letter, but her sister had ran away holding it above her head, out of Eliza's reach. She ran after her, avoiding collision with the furniture. "Angelica Schuyler, give me the letter now!"

"Not until you tell me what's going on," Angelica waved the letter in front of her face.

"I did!" She cried out. "Give me my letter, please!" Eliza jumped up, trying to get it. Angelica shook her head, holding the envelope up high. She eventually gave up and jumped on Angelica. Her sister screamed and they ended up on the floor. Eliza took the letter and ran out to the mailbox. She hugged the box tightly, afraid Angelica would come after the letter again.

A few minutes later, Eliza finally went inside. She peeked out of the doorway to see if anyone was there. She dashed to her room when she saw Angelica had left the living room. Eliza locked the door to her room.

The phone started to ring. Eliza picked it up and said, "Hello?"

"Hi Eliza," Alex's voice was on the other end. Her eyes lit up.

"Alex! Hi! How are you? I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever," Eliza was smiling widely. Aside from the letters and few text messages they had exchanged, she hadn't really heard much from Alex. "What's up?"

There was a brief pause. Eliza heard some whispers on the line. "Okay okay! Calm down," There were more people on Alex's side, he must have been talking to them. "Sorry, I was wondering," he took a deep breath. "Shut up," he hissed to the other people. She giggled a bit. "Oh god, I'm sorry. I'm so bad at this," Alex sighed. "Okay, so would you like to go out for supper sometime?" He finally asked her.

"I would love to," Eliza told him, smiling. "How about tomorrow night? I don't think I'm doing anything."

"Oh, sure! Yeah, that should work. I'll pick you up at six?"

"Alright, I'll see you at six," she could barely contain her excitement. Eliza glanced over at the box of letters he had wrote her. "Bye Alexander."

"Bye Eliza," he hung up the phone.

Eliza set her phone down and shrieked in delight. She started to happily dance. Angelica opened the door and leaned inside her room. "I knew you two were something," she said, smirking.

Her face started to grow warm. "How long where you standing there?" Angelica shrugged. "Long enough." She sat down and chucked a pillow at her sister.

"So can I go?" Eliza asked her. Their parents were currently upstate and busy, she didn't want to bother them.

"Well," Angelica picked up the pillow and tossed it back. "If it makes you happy, I suppose you can," She threw the pillow back on the bed. Eliza jumped up to hug her sister tightly.

"Thank you!" Angelica placed a gentle hand on her head. "Anytime Elizabeth," she whispered, sighing a bit. "Anytime."

She skipped back to her bed to read Alex's letters again after Angelica had left. Eliza drifted off to sleep holding the most recent letter close to her chest.

Now my life gets better with every letter that you write me.
