"I just need to know why you lied to me when you could've just told me the truth Jayden." I uttered. He turned to face me and looked me in the eye.
I watched his eyes trail down to my feet. There was hurt in his eyes. He looked down at his feet and said "Look Brook, I'm sorry for what it's worth. I lied, so what? It's not like I'm the only one that makes mistakes in this relationship."
I stared him in the face as my blood began to boil. "For what it's worth? You always do this, you try to take the heat away from you and blame it all on me," I said slamming my locker shut. He sighed and picked up his books.
"You're being dramatic Brooklyn, like I said its not that big of a deal. You aren't perfect." The warning bell rung and I stared Jayden right in the face.
"If you are going to continue to make me feel like my feelings aren't valid, then we shouldn't be in this relationship anymore. It's unhealthy and you know it." I sighed hard and walked to class.
The dismissal bell rung and students began to rush out of class. I reached in my bag and pulled out my phone and headphones. I plugged them in, pressed play, and walked to my locker.
I grabbed my books out of my locker and looked down the hallway. Jayden walked by with his head down. I turned to face my locker again, I had to let him go.
I looked at the photo of us taped to the back of my locker door. We looked so happy then. That was then and this is now. I ripped the photo down and laid it at the bottom of my locker. I noticed the hallway started to clear out and I shut my locker and jogged to my bus. I saw Jayden walking with his friends. They were laughing and joking around while he just gave a weak smile. I didn't want to make him feel like that, but things happened.
I got off the bus and walked to my house. I took out my keys to unlock the door when the door opened. My sister, Alison was waiting for me. "Hey Brooklyn! How was your day? You look bummed." I told her how my day went and her smile dropped. She looked around, as if looking for the right words to say.
"I mean I knew it was coming, I just never expected it to be like this. He was so angry when he spoke to me, like I was the one doing the wrong, like I lied and it's all my fault!" I said holding back tears. Alison reached out to hug me and I let her. I needed this. I felt like I was going crazy.
I marched upstairs to my room and plopped down my bags. I laid back on my bed and fell asleep. The buzz of my phone woke me up. I unlocked my phone and read the latest text. It was Jayden, and he was asking for his stuff back. I agreed to meet him at his locker tomorrow morning to exchange our things.
