Chapter 31: Typical High School Party and the Park Bench.
Lynsey’s POV:
“Lynsey!” I heard the front door slam and I stopped doing jack knife sit-ups in my room as Payton walked through the door.
“Jack knifes? Really?” she looked down at me.
I looked up at her and drank some water, “Yes. Being in a wheelchair sucked, my abs are barely visible anymore. I worked hard for these, “I pointed at my abdomen, “I will not lose them so easily.”
Payton scoffed before helping me stand up, “Go shower. We are going to a party.”
“What?” I shook my head, “No.”
“Mhm.” she stated, “Now go.” She pushed me into the bathroom and slammed the door.
I signed as I turned on the water and jumped in, she couldn’t be serious.
I got out and went into my bedroom only to find Payton looking through my closet.
“Are we really going to a party?” I groaned.
“Yes.” she said pushing my hangers to look at each article of clothing I have.
I sighed and pulled on some sweats and a t-shirt because I was tired of holding my towel up. Lazy bum, I know.
“Can I borrow this!?” she pulled out my favorite mint colored dress. The top is lace and it has a sweetheart neckline underneath the lace sleeves. The back is all lace to show a little skin and it stays lace until about three-fourths down ones back. The skirt on the bottom just flows and ends about an inch above the knee.
“Yeah. Sure.” I said and got up to look for something for myself.
I grabbed my Little Black Dress aka LBD. It is pure black and hugs my skin nicely, on the side are triangles made of lace that show your skin to give it a little design.
I changed into the dress and pulled on some spandex underneath. I grabbed my light gray heeled ankle boots and my jean jacket.
Payton and I went into my bathroom and did our make-up and all that girly junk. I did manage to stick mascara in my eye, so I put my ugly glasses in my purse incase my vision decided to go out of whack. I’m also kind of a klutz.
My mom was working late tonight so I left her a note and said that I was going out with Payton and that I probably would just be staying over at her house. I mean, it’s not like I was lying. I just wasn’t telling her where we were going out too.
We walked out to her car and I got in hesitantly, slamming the door closed. I looked over at her and she was smiling from ear to ear, like a crazy person.
“I can’t believe you are actually making me do this.”
She turned the keys and we headed for the party.
About five minutes away, she parked in the parking lot of an old, abandoned bar and I could faintly hear the sound of music.
I looked over at her and then at the couple of houses, no party.
“What the hell?”
She looked at me like I was incredibly dumb, “The party is down the street. I parked down here so that if the police show up or something happens, we aren’t considered suspicious.”
“Police? Oh joy. Sounds super fun.” I don’t go to high-school parties, I don’t know protocol or any of this crap.
We walked down the sidewalk and the music started to get louder. there weren’t many houses nearby so noise complaints wouldn't be on the rise, that’s good.
