Sorry for no updates in a few months! Here's a chapter that took me way too long to write, especially for how short it is. Oh well.

You ran along the beach, sand flying up in clouds behind you. Amethyst chased you, arms outstretched and laughing wildly. You tried to speed up, noticing she was gaining on you, but your legs weren't having it. "Ok! I surrender!" You gasped, collapsing onto the sand. Amethyst didn't slow down at all, instead barreling into you and sending a sandy cloud into the air. She sat up, brushing herself off, still laughing. "I told you you couldn't escape me!"
You rolled your eyes. "Yeah, well you don't get tired. Or at least you get tired much more slowly than a human. So you have an advantage."She stuck her tongue out. "You're the one with the longer legs."
"You still won."
She grinned. "Of course I did."
You were about to say something else, but before you could open you mouth, a shout drew your attention. You looked down the beach, seeing Garnet, Steven, and Pearl near the temple. Steven was the one who'd called you. He motioned for you to come over, looking slightly frantic. "Amethyst! There's a gem monster and we need help fighting it! Come quickly!"
Behind him, Garnet and Pearl summoned their weapons and charged around the corner. Amethyst shot up, whip already in hand. She turned to you. "Go inside the beach house. We've got this under control." She gave you a peck on the cheek before running to aid the other crystal gems. You stood up quickly, then ran across the sand towards the house, pausing at the base of the steps. You caught sight of an enormous creature, which the four crystal gems were battling against. You guessed it was 30 feet tall. It looked almost like an octopus, but with hands where the "tentacles" should have ended, and a mess of gem shards in its forehead. Amethyst noticed you were still standing on the sand and not inside the house. "(Y/n)! Get inside! I don't want you to get hurt." She quickly returned to the fight. You gulped and began to ascend the stairs, but a shout drew your attention back to the scene. Amethyst was held fast in one of the thing's giant hands, an expression of pain on her face. Before any of the other gems could come to her aid, there was a poof, and a purple gem dropped onto the sand. Almost without thinking, you sprinted onto the beach, grabbed the gem off of the ground, and then ran towards the house as fast as your legs could go. Steven looked back towards you. "Don't worry, I've got her!" You yelled. He nodded. "Ok!"
You sped up the stairs and into the house, cradling Amethyst's gem against your chest. After you took a seat and calmed down a bit, you gently set her gem down, and inspected it for damage. Thankfully, it showed no scratches or cracks of any sort. "I hope you regenerate soon, Ame." You said softly, already missing her.

Steven, Pearl , and Garnet had proved to be successful in their fight against the renegade gem, which now resided in Garnet's room, safely surrounded by a bubble. Both you and Steven anxiously awaited Amethyst's return, and Garnet reassured you that she would be fine, and to keep being patient. You had seen Amethyst get poofed once before, but what worried you about this time was how long it was taking. Last time, she had come back after about a day, but it had already been almost a week. You hoped it wouldn't take any longer. You missed her a lot.

You had taken to carrying Amethyst's gem around, or at least trying to be around her as much as you could. You talked to her, and told her jokes and funny stories. You weren't sure if she could hear you, but you enjoyed talking to her nonetheless. Right now you were hanging out at Steven's house while the gems went on a mission. You were snuggled into a beanbag chair, Amethyst's gem on your lap, watching TV. You couldn't find anything you really liked, but decided that Animal Planet wasn't too bad. You actually got so invested in the show that you didn't notice a purple light emitting from the gem in your lap. A weight on top of you quickly drew your attention from the TV. You gasped. "Amethyst! You're back! I-" before you could finish, she pulled you into a hug. "I missed you too."
