On a warm Memorial Day, in the mid 2000's, Miles Blurr and his girlfriend, Casey June decided to go for a hike. Miles and Casey were inseparable and spent most of their time together, but on that particular hike, they had seemed to be distant.

While on the hike, Casey asked to take a break, but Miles wanted to keep going. Casey sat down, insisting she had hurt her foot, but Miles continues to walk, getting farther and farther away. Casey slowly lost sight of Miles, so she got up, trying to catch up with him.

Casey was only later found by a group of boy scouts walking in the woods. Casey was sitting on a rock, tears streaming down her face, Miles' lifeless body less than five yards away from her. All she could get out was her deceased boyfriends name, over and over. The scout leader helped Casey back down the trail, and to the police station.

As Casey sat in the police station, for what felt like all day, she kept telling the cops the same thing, she hadn't seen what had happened to Miles, she found him like that.

Casey and Miles were the perfect couple in Lily Grove. Everyone aspired to be that   couple. Why would Casey want to kill Miles? She wouldn't.

As Casey sat there, explaining to the cops, again, what had happened, her best friend, Becky walked in, coming to her side. Becky had known every detail in her and Miles' relationship. She held Casey's hand, telling the police officer to back off. Casey looked at Becky, then started to cry. After a few hours, Becky let go of Casey and sighed, explaining that Becky's brother, Abe was coming to pick them both up from the police station.

Another long hour passed, the cop had finally finished questioning Casey. Becky's brother, Abe, strolled into the station, like he had never been there.

Abe had been there several this month. Ever since his mother died two months ago, he had been acting up and getting into trouble. The latest offense was a fist fight at the local diner, Uno's. The police chief looked at Abe and greeted him by name. Abe nodded to him and walked over to Casey and Becky. He waited until they got up, then walked back to the car.

Once Abe dropped Casey off at her house, her mother and father ambushed her with questions. Casey ignored them and went up to her room, closing her door and laid on her bed, picking up the picture of her and Miles that was placed on her bedside. She held it close to her chest, but kept a blank expression on her face.

All of a sudden, her phone buzzed and she picked it up. Miles' friend, James, had texted her. She couldn't help but chuckle as she read the text. A simple three word text was on the screen. 'I'm Sorry, Case.' was all the text had said. James was best friends with Miles and sorry was all he could say? Casey wasn't the only person who was friends with Miles, so, how could one of his best friends only say sorry?

He had to be just as upset as Casey was. In fact, maybe more. James and Miles knew each other from preschool. Miles and Casey had only met their sophomore year of high school.

Casey shook her head and put the phone down as it buzzed over and over. Sympathy texts flooding her phone. She covered her head with a pillow and fell asleep.
