I snatched the notepad out of his hands and tossed it carelessly to the side of the bed. My breathing became ragged due to the amount of anger and sadness I felt.
His mother, Gaia, did this to him. Made him believe that the death of pack members and his father being in a coma was all his fault. He had not only been abused mentally, but physically as well. Gaia had not only convinced him that the attack was his fault, she also convinced him that his life was no value; that even his mate wouldn't even desire him.
Kronos stopped talking because he was scared... and I need to show him there's nothing to be afraid of.
I wanted him to understand that he'll always be worthy for me, but how? It was always a mystery to me, on what to do.
Whether or not I stepped closer to him, he would push me away or get terrified. And it felt awful when I had did something to trigger his panic attack.
Taking a deep breath, I took a risk. Cupping his cheeks, I lean in and made him look deep into my eyes.
His breathing hitched, full of panic.
"Look at me, Kronos. Does it look like I would hurt you?"
He shook his head.
I don't believe him.
I continued, "I'm only going to say this once and only once. I want you and only you. Remember, the moon goddess paired us up for a reason. Kronos, you were made for me. Just as I was made for you. Nothing will ever change that."
I seemed to have his attention now, because he stopped breathing heavily. His heart still raced, but it wasn't pounding in his chest like it was moments ago.
"Kronos, everyone has value in their life. Even if it were a criminal, someone else in their life sees them worthy and cares for them. Just as I will always care for you, and I'll wait for you to open up to me. Even if it takes years, I'll wait," I said, my voice strained.
Realizing I was still cupping his cheeks, I released them and sat next to him.
My emotions were really getting the best of me.
These words I said to Kronos were the last lessons my parents taught me.
As I drifted out of my thoughts, I noticed Kronos smile at me slightly, before leaning his forehead hesitantly against mine.
He was trying, and as long as he was putting an effort in opening up and facing his fears, I'll know we'll be okay.
A lone tear rolled down his cheek, and another. He was still smiling though, as if he was relieved. Surprisingly, Kronos leaned away from me and suddenly wiped my face.
I looked at him in wonder, not understanding why.
Until I realized... I was crying as well.
They were happy tears, of us trying to better ourselves. My tears were not just that, but out of want, frustration, and sympathy.
I wanted him, but we were not ready.
I was frustrated, because of my lack of patience and understanding. I need to learn how to respect his boundaries. I was also frustrated... because he did not understand how much he meant to me.
How much he deserved and that he was beyond worthy of me. He was perfect and I wished he understood that.
And I was sympathetic... because he is not alone in this world. Terrible things has happened to him and I can't imagine his pain.
He continued to wipe my tears away, as sparks flew.
We continued like that for god knows how long, but it was sweet. This moment was something I would remember for the rest of life, because it really did feel like we connected and understood one another.
Soon after, he smiled and grabbed a tissue that was on the nightstand. He reached over to grab his notepad and wrote out:
'You have a runny nose.' He pointed out, sniffling his tears.
My face became red in an instant and Kronos honestly thought that was so funny to see.
'So cute.' He wrote on his notepad.
I shook my head frantically, "Noooo! Don't look."
He reached over and wiped away my runny nose, which I quickly tried to push him away from.
But he was persistent and wiped away my snot.
Embarrassment flushed my entire being. I can't believe my mate just saw my ugly crying face and snot running down my nose. This is embarrassing!
'Imagine how I feel... you nasty ass human.' Rain said, her paws covering her eyes.
'Oh, shut up. I didn't expect him to do that!'
After Kronos finished taking care of me, he washed his hands and returned back to the room. He sat down next to me again and wrote out on his notepad:
'You're beautiful. Don't worry, I don't think it's gross.'
I stared at him, my heart racing.
"You really are something... Kronos. Careful because you might just make me fall in love with you." I said, my face redder than before.
Kronos had his mouth gaped open but he quickly shut it. He seemed surprised but happy at the same time.
But before he could answer, something too familiar caught our attention.
The patter of footsteps snapped us out of our moment, before we turned our attention towards the door. Without warning, Azrael and Coco burst through the door, out of breath.
Their skin were ghostly pale, which had me and Kronos shuffle onto our feet in a hurry. The tension in the air was so thick, you could almost choke on it.
"What's wrong you two? You look like you saw a ghost," I joke, hoping to lighten the atmosphere.
Coco frantically shook her head, "No time for jokes Rhea! This is urgent."
My lips formed into a grim line. Stealing a glance to Kronos direction, he seemed to have composed himself. Kronos motioned for the both of them to continue, crossing his arms in a impatient form.
Azrael swallowed, "Ouranos is awake and is asking for you."
