The world seemed so empty. Like a leaf, just, blowing through the wind. It never felt right for him. He never really fit in, did he? He never had that special thing that made anyone want to approach him to be his friend. He was that leaf; he was the one that just blew in the wind.
"Aaron!" started my teacher, beginning the roll call. I never did like the beginning of class much. It was always just the same old stuff. Nothing new. Mr. Morris would call the last names of everyone in order, A-Z, then he would start asking us about our weekend. I'm not sure he even cares about our weekend, to be honest.
"Edwards!" he continued. Then after about three people, always the same people, would raise their hand, he'd start with the lesson plan. Unless it wasn't a Monday. Then he didn't need to ask, right? Then he moved on to an overview of class, then a notes page, then a class work sheet, then another class work sheet, and then we'd get our homework. This pattern never changed.
"Jackson! No, Kate Jackson, not you Will." he corrected. I mean unless we had a test, which we do in a few days. Then instead of a notes and class work we get a whole class to take long boring tests that have no importance to anyone in this class. Of course unless you're some mathlete who can say 93 digits of pi. Those are the ones who are going somewhere. Unlike me, I'm probably not getting anywhere after senior year. But I know I don't want to go into math, this class is probably the worst this I've ever been in in my life.
"Lichen! Lichen? Jeremy Lichen!" yelled Mr. Morris. I was immediately brought back into reality. I didn't even realize I wasn't paying any real attention
"U-Uh.. Present!" I quickly stuttered out of my mouth. I shot my arm up partially, earning me a couple snickers and whispers from the other students. I shamefully brought my hand down. Of course I had to embarrass myself. Great going, Jeremy. Mr. Morris continued down the list. I tuned myself out once more, waiting to get my mind triggered back when he said the final name.
"Young!" and there it was. I rose my head to look for Mr. Morris' next directions. Papers started getting passed back in each row, so I waited patiently for mine. Once the papers finally got back to me, I saw that someone had kindly written a clear 'LOSER!' on the top. I cringed to myself and looked up to the few people who sat in front of me. The two in front of me were both laughing to themselves, exchanging glances with each other. I quickly went to erase the comment but to my luck it was written in pen. Perfect. Just.. perfect. Instead I just crossed it out and wrote my name in the name box. Jeremy Lichen. Notes page number 2.7. Yay. I clipped the paper into my math binder and waited for Mr. Morris to start the page.
Finally the big hand on the clock ticked over to the 3. 10:15. I had first lunch so that's where I was off to. I gathered my things and headed out, keeping my head low. I tried getting out of the class before Mr. Morris got out. Unfortunately he also had first lunch and he always made his way out of the class, making it easy for people to target me and not get caught.
"Hey loser!" yelled a student. I got tugged back quickly by my shoulder. Fuck. Great... oh and Mr. Morris is gone, of course... "Hey, don't go so quick, kid!" He poked his thumb into my shoulder. I shrunk down slightly in pain.
"Yeah, why you in such a rush, loser?" Another kid chimed in.
"I just wanna get to lunch, leave me alone" I squirmed away from the kid holding me. I tried to make a move backwards to the door, but as I stepped back, one kid who was standing behind me stuck their leg out and made me trip. I fell, and fell hard. My binder dropped out of my hands and fell at my side. This made the boys content, they smiled evilly and stepped over me to get out the door. Thankfully they didn't actually step on me. I got up and grabbed my binder in one hand and my head with the other. I looked around, looking to see if anyone had seen my take down.
One person, just one person sat at their desk, eyes wide with concern and wonder. Once they saw me look at them they looked back at their desk, a mostly blank piece of paper on it. I decided not to bring up conversation, seeing they just watched me get humiliated I didn't want them to make it worse. I turned quickly on my heel and headed off to my locker to go to lunch.
ItsJeremy1:: Lol idk why I wrote this bcuz I was going to write this as a joke but then my decent writing skills got the best of me and I actually put a bit of effort into this. Woops. I might update it??? Maybe not??? idk what I'm doing xD oh well.
