She was the stable dirt beneath the fire, she was mud the Water nourished. Her favorite friend was the Wind. They sang all through branches and all through the night. She was the backdrop to where the beauty began. She was the Mother and the Teacher. She was the love she gave to all. She was the rock and she was the tree. She shone under the sun that helped others see and this Maiden of Earth was the bite in the night. The eyes that crept. She warned all who came and feared none that went. She was of dirt and mud and singers and hunts. She was of potions and poison. Of life and death. Of the killers and the helpers. She was the Earth that none forgot.
