~Matt's POV~

"Do you think this will be good?" Clara asked me as she held up the newspaper for me to look at the wanted ads.

"A grocery store?" I said.

"Yeah, requires no experience and they accept kids my age." She said.

We were sitting in my living room as I searched the web and she looked at the paper. It was a cold Saturday where no one wanted to go out. Except David and his girlfriend, they were on a date.

We got back from Honolulu five days ago. I was completely exhausted for nearly two days. And getting back to the freezing weather wasn't fun either.

School was getting back in session in a bit. Only four days left and then we get back to cramming for tests and waiting for the end of the day.

"You really want to stock shelves for hours on end?" I asked her.

"I want the money." She said.

"Well how much will you get?"

"Six dollars an hour plus tips."

I looked up very confused and then looked at her.

"Wait no that's the wrong one." Clara said and then looked at the paper closer. "Yeah no it's minimum wage."

"Why do you need a job again?" I asked her. "This seems like a lot of work."

"I'm completely broke and my parents are doing nothing to help me out with that." She told me. "Not everyone is rich like you, Matt."

"I know, it's not like my parents give me money either." I tell her.

I then heard a knock on the door. I looked at Clara and then went to answer it. I had no idea who it was.

I got to the door and opened it, to my surprise I saw Amy standing at my doorstep.

"Matt!" Amy said. "Thank god you're home, I just heard that season 4 was confirmed."

"Um, actually Amy I'm a little busy right now--wait... how did you get here?" I asked her. "I thought your car was in the shop after getting in another wreck?"

"Took Rory's car, don't tell him though." She said and then walked into my house.

"How did you get his car? Doesn't he live kinda far away?" I asked.

"Spent the night at his house last night." She told me as she walked further into my house.

"Oh god... you didn't-"

"Oh yes, Matt... we did... stay in and watch movies all night because his parents were home." She smiled.

I was relieved, didn't really want to think of my best friends like... that. Amy came closer to the sitting room.

"Uh, actually, Amy, I'm kinda in the middle of something." I tried to tell her but I don't think she was listening.

She walked into the sitting room and I could tell she was a bit taken aback by the person sitting on the couch. I quickly joined Amy by her side.

"Oh..." she said.

"Hello, Amy." Clara greeted.

Amy looked at me and the back at Clara.

"Oh... I see what's going on here." She said. "Oh! I see... do you want me to leave because I don't want to intrude-"

"No, no! It's not like that." I told her.

"Yeah no, it's not at all like that." Clara added in. "Matt was just helping me find a job."

"Oh! Okay!" Amy said and then joined Clara on the couch. "That's good because I am terrible with directions. Even getting to my own house."

I sat down on the chair by the couch and watched the two.

"So what kind of job are you looking for?" Amy asked her. "You know, that bakery by the mall and the urban outfitters is hiring, $10 an hour for helping around in the kitchen."

"Oh yeah that's a big no." Clara said to her. "I am terrible at baking."

"Oh yeah last time she was here we nearly burned the house down." I told her.

"Which is weird since my mom was actually really good at baking, always made soufflés for special events." Clara told us. "Guess it just didn't carry over."

Then Margret came into the room with a magazine. I mean why wouldn't more people come here?

"Oh hello, everyone, how are we doing?" Margret asked them cheerfully "Amy, I didn't know you were coming over."

"Oh yeah, I just decided to hang out." Amy told her.

"We are job hunting for Clara." I told her.

"Oh well that's exciting and grown up! I heard that some of the shops are hiring down town. Could be promising."

"Oh, down town is pretty far from my house and I'll have to go straight from school to there." Clara explained. "Thank you though."

"No problem, Matt, I'm going to the store. Be back in an hour." She told me.

"Margret!" I heard Chris coming down the stairs. Yes let's just invite everyone here.

"What is it?" She asked him as he came into the room with two ties, one green and one red.

"Which tie should I wear tonight?" He asked her.

"Hmm." Margret put a hand on her chin and thought for a moment.

"Where are you going?" I asked him.

"I'll have you know I'm going on a date tonight." He said with pride.

I resisted laughing. "What, really?"

"Yes really!" He said.

"A real girl this time?"

"Oh yeah, very funny." He said to me. "I don't know why you're laughing, it's not like you've got a girlfriend either."

"I don't think it's a good idea to get into a relationship right now, you know since we'll be married pretty soon."

"I don't care what's happening in 6 months, we still have time here." He said to me. "What's going on here anyway?"

"Matt is helping his friend find a job." Margret told him.

"Oh you know Mickey is applying to a bookstore that's at that strip mall near here. That could be a good choice." He said to Clara.

"Oh... thank you I will look into it." She said to him.

"Mickey? At a bookstore?" I asked Chris.

"What's wrong with that?"

"I don't know he just seems like the kind of guy who wouldn't even know how to read." I said to him.

"He likes the comic books."

"Now that makes a little more sense."

"I like the red one better." Margret told Chris, referring to the tie.

"Alright, thanks." He then went back upstairs.

"Okay, I'm going to the store." Margret said as she picked up her car keys. "Don't wreck the house." Then she left.

I looked at Amy and Clara and they looked back at me.

"Right... bookstore then." I said to them.
