"A pill to make you numb,
a pill to make you dumb,
a pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
won't save her from herself."COMA WHITE—Marilyn Manson

The next morning Udiya woke up to her phone ringing.
She barely remembered putting it on her bedside drawer the previous night before she fell asleep.
She reached for it with a hand and hit answer, without seeing the ID first. She already knew whom was the one calling her so early in the morning.
"Yes?" she answered groggily, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand.
"Oh, so you're still alive."
Udiya furrowed her eyebrows. The motion must've triggered something, because as soon as she did so, she felt a killer headache coming on. Her whole body ached and even making any sort of facial expression hurt too much, so she tried to relax her muscles and keep as still as she could.
"Barely," she could hardly suppress a huge yawn. Violet laughed from the other line.
"I told you not to drink half of the bottle of vodka, didn't I?" came Violet's stern response.
Udiya snorted, but instantly regretted doing so, as she felt another wave of pain. "Shut up. You drank the other half."
Violet laughed heartily, the noise making Udiya cringe. She pulled the phone back and hissed in annoyance, rubbing slowly her temples to ease the pain. "I guess I did."
"Then how come I'm the only one feeling like shit?"
"Because I didn't open another bottle and drank until I couldn't handle it anymore, silly. Besides, I already took an Advil for my headache."
Udiya groaned. "I'm gonna get one, too," she stirred a little, feeling a few bones cracking, which she thought was oddly satisfying. She rolled onto her back and covered her face with her free hand. "You're still coming to pick me up, right?"
"Already on my way. You do that and go take a shower and get ready. I'll send you a message once I get there."
"Alright. See ya."
Udiya tossed her phone on the bed and made to stand up when, suddenly, a wave of nausea made her stop midway. She dropped back down on her bed with a grunt.
It was going to be a long day.

Udiya almost jumped in surprise when she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket.
I'm here. –V
She sent Violet a quick message telling her she'd be outside in a few.
She was currently in the kitchen, finishing her bowl of cereals. She took advantage of the fact that her parents had gone to work before she woke up and made herself a generous breakfast, something she knew her mother wouldn't have approved of. She was grateful for that; she had no idea how to act around her parents anymore, and having a few minutes for herself without hearing the patronizing voice of her mother brought her a comforting feeling.
She took a few more scoops and sighed in contentment, already feeling better. Once she was done, she stood up and put the bowl in the sink. She grabbed her backpack and slammed the door behind her. She spotted Violet's car almost instantly; its blinding neon-green color a sore sight to her eyes. She got inside the car and turned to Violet, who was already watching her carefully.
