"And just where have you been! You are late for your ceremony, an embarrassment to the name of the stars I say." The elder babbles on. Yeah whatever, no one says that anymore. "So what was your reason?" He asks me.
"Oh... I uhhh... I kind of got lost in the woods," not lying here, old man, "I guess I was just clearing my mind of stress," I say with a slightly sad tilt to my head.
"Being a representative of a faction is a big thing but not anything to be afraid of," oh my good sun lord he bought it, "I assure you, but remember what we have discussed years ago?"
"Yes elder, no more talk of false light,"
"Good, like a true Cancer, you have excellent memory. Now go to the palace your ceremony is now."
I walk through the village unaware of white eyes watching.
----
What if I was busy thinking about how I got caught by the elder and not Matt. What if I was thinking that I could've changed into something less.. sweaty for such a formal gathering. What if suddenly Matt consumed my thoughts during the whole ceremony. If I could do that without being interrupted, that would be nice.
"Now, do you promise to hold the title with a graceful and nurturing quality, and to set the example for all other Cancers and lead the water signs towards glory?" Another elder asks.
Okay remember, uhhh right. A ceremony is held for twelve young adults of eighteen, every hundredth year on the months of that constellation to get the title of their sign. It is said that those who are chosen have magic capabilities and must learn to use it for the greater good. However I think I was chosen just because of my hair colour. And maybe the fact that no other Cancer is around eighteen years of age. The ceremony also starts with the chosen of the sun, Leo and ends with Cancer. Being a Cancer is considered to be taboo here for some reason, and they don't tell me why.
"Uhm, yes, I promise," totally promise.
"Then I now grant you the Cancerian heirloom, the star of Beta Cancri!" I now get to wear this cool white necklace. Neat. Okay now what do I do?
---
I also apparently get a party thrown for me plus a shield and sword marked with the Cancer glyph. Wouldn't Matt just love this glyph. Ahh speak of the devil and he shall come, with his slut.
"Nice glyph," he whistles, "do you even get any action to go with it?"
"Shut up, Matt. We're the best at it, it's what it shows." Aha, take that from a bisexual, "And I'll get twice as many as you," I taunt. At least here, liking the same gender is okay, but look at the sun wrong and you get a death sentence.
"Got me there," he replies.
"Hey, why weren't you caught by an elder?" I question him.
"Mikhaela saw me running and took me in, isn't that right, Pisces?" he says.
"Oh by the gods don't phrase it like that!" She exclaims. Yeah it makes me really freaking jealous. And they just proceed to make out in front of me. That's my alone time calling me.
"Right, I'll see what these babies can do, see you two later." I ran away without hearing from them. Uhhh, I'll just say I was excited to use my babies, yeah that'll work. Matt's never gotten through to me, oh, the feared Scorpio with his penetrating gaze and alluring body. I just roll my eyes at that. He still struggles to read me, it's... Amusing to say the least. No one else sees his vulnerable side and no one sees mine. Hell, he doesn't even see my dark side, now that's saying something.
I enter the common training room to see Liam, the Leo already practising with his golden sword and shield. Shows how important Cancers are to everyone. He's probably flaunting the weapons.
