Digging through the sand while waiting for her turn to row, Emily gasped when she saw the literally best thing ever. A beetle. Emily thought the beetle was cute, so she decided it was now her son.
She was gonna keep it.
Her totally real friends Josh, Nuan, and Anna told her it was only going to live for a week, and Emily told them to kindly shut their faces. She could manage being a single mom with a beetle, right?
Moby Dig was a pretty cool beetle. He was black for the most part. But his back was blue and purple and green, almost like a hologram. Sick.
With Emily as his new mom, Moby Dig was going to live FOreVEr!!11!1
Moby Dig stayed in Emily's palm while she waited. His little legs crawled in her closed hand. She opened her loose fist and looked at him. She looked at Nuan.
"He's not gonna fly away, right?"
Nuan shook her head, looking up from where she'd been digging in the sand out of boredom, "No, I don't think he can fly."
"Cool beans."
So she opened her palm to inspect her new, un-biological offspring. Under the the light of the sun, his shell was glowing with his cool holographic colors.
That's when disaster struck.
Turns out Moby Dig did, in fact, have wings.
And he decided to use them.
His wings quickly sprouted from his shell and he flew out Emily's hand in a matter of seconds. With an odd noise of grieving and surprise, Emily felt betrayed.
She was gonna be the best beetle mom. Attending all Moby Dig's soccer games, screaming "That's my son!" whenever he did anything, making tiny beetle pancakes, and all that cool mom stuff.
And her friends were no help. Anna and Nuan wouldn't stop laughing, and Josh had no idea what just happened.
Great.
After about a minute of mourning, Emily moved on. It was just a beetle, right? There were practically millions of beetles all around the globe! Moby Dig was just a bug, creatures despised by humans.
Whatever. Moby Dig could suck a toe.
THE END.
