"Oh my good sun lord this feels awesome," Troy says, "you always know what I want," he said so quietly. As he sunk into the water.
The full moon shone brightly and danced on the cool water. Just how he likes it. No one understands him and his fascination with the moon, it always landed him into trouble.
"I don't believe that the Cancers' ruling planet is the sun although it does have some nurturing qualities, it's too bright and blinding for our quiet natures, don't you think Matt?" He asks with a faraway voice. Face glued to the moon.
"I agree, I think your ruling planet should be the moon." I say.
"Oooh Matt, joking are we? better watch your mouth or else you'll get into trouble," he jokes.
But what if I'm not? In all honesty, with what he does, the moon could not be a better ruler. When someone's having a bad day, he comes along and cheers them up. Just like how the moon shines in the dark, showing turtles the way to the sea and guiding the moths in the night. His moods change faster than anything I've seen, mysterious and instinctual. I keep trying to find out why he acts that way, why he came to some training sessions crying when we were kids, or maybe why he spends so much time in the libraries and why he prefers having a lightly toned body to the usual heavier builds men have, or why his hair is white.
And he's so funny most of the time like right now he's furiously swatting the air, trying to get an insect with his focused frown on. He gives up. I can't help but smile at him.
"I miss my hometown, wanna come visit with me?" He asks.
"Sure," I say.
One day I will figure you out. I promise.
---
"That was such a nice bath," Troy said for the hundredth time. But you can't get angry at his pleased face.
"Yeah y-" a shrill scream rings through the night air making us take off towards the noise with our daggers and throwing knives, swords on our sides.
I'm sure we can handle a little trouble with our training and my magic. But nothing could have prepared us for the future, nothing ever could.
The village of Thea Anore greets us with the scene of a nightmare. Houses have been destroyed by fire or a powerful force, blood trails into the forest and the villagers race about in panic putting out fires.
"... No..." A quick glance at Troy's face and countless emotions can be seen fogging up Troy's mind.
"Troy, I'm sorry"
".. No .. I-"
A small cry is heard and Troy signals that he's going to check it out then cautiously heads towards the noise.
Meanwhile, I leave to ask the villagers about what happened. It's unnecessary to have an education in studies of the mind to tell that Troy needs space.
They speak of screaming, crashing and a large beast seeking prey.
Troy comes out of a ruined house cradling a young girl barely the age of seven crying on his shoulder. "I'll get her to the orphanage soon, what did they say?" he said, mama bear mode.
"It was a large beast heading towards the woods, would it be the one we saw? And why was she spared?"
"Her room was far from her parents', and she has nowhere to go. I have no clue if it was the monster that we saw, but we should stand guard now," he replied, "I'll drop her off at the orphanage now, I think it's time for a meeting of the signs."
"On it," I say. And he nods heading away. Troy I know you, it is not your fault. Finding all of you out would have to wait.

Cancer POV
"Hush child, you're safe now." I said.
Her cries quietened as I wait patiently for her. "Hello, my name is Troy, what's your name?" I ask with a smile. What can I do but give her momentary calm. I was supposed to watch Anore tonight. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
"D-D-ia-na," she finally speaks.
"Diana, is it?" She nods. "And how old are you?"
"S-six," she replies.
"Okay, do you want to talk about what happened?"
She shakes her head.
"That's okay if you don't. I've got some friends here, and there's also some other kids around your age that could be friends."
She shakes her head again.
"Would you like to sleep?"
She nods.
"Rest then, child. I'll be back sometime tomorrow, you've gone through enough today."
I reach my old home, The Neathas Orphanage with Diana asleep in my arms. I tell the manager, who we just call "granny"about Diana's situation. And she prepares paperwork for Diana. Granny is another Cancer, she taught me all I know, well apart from training so I know Diana is in good hands. I set Diana down and take one last look before heading out to the council chamber.
" Do not beat yourself up child, mistakes happen to the best, " granny says.
"Thanks granny, I'll see you soon."
---
The council chamber and palace are situated on the top of the mountain, Doriath, south of Thea Anore, 'closer to the sun' they say.
After a long climb uphill, I enter the council room. Not late at all. Ignoring all the glares I get I sit down next to Matt.
"Why are we all up in the middle of the night? This better be important." Aries, or Arthur states.
"It is important. A beast from the Dark Woods has attacked the villagers of Thea Anore-"
"And why should we care about some villagers especially from Thea Anore?" Aries protested just to get elbowed from Sagittarius. Ha, even she's tired of your shit.
"Okay then, let me remind you that first, you have been given a title and have some responsibilities that go along with it. And second, all of your wealth depends on the trade and taxes of the villagers you don't care about. And if they leave because they don't feel safe, your wealth will follow."
"No need to be so out of hand, Cancer, Aries. We're all tired and we need to find out a way to protect the villagers. No one is to blame," Laura the Libra says.
"*Cough* vain bitch *cough*" Virgo says and the earth signs giggle. Laura just glares at them. You can't intimidate them, they've made Matt mad before.
. May or may not have been my fault."Ignoring that comment, I'm afraid one of us might be," an elder spoke up.
Matt and I glance at each other.
"Scorpio, you say that the beast that has attacked Thea Anore has come from the Dark Woods?"
"Yes," he replies
"And Cancer, during your walk through the woods near the Dark Woods on the day of your ceremony, did you or did you not encounter the said beast?"
"I did," gasps echo the room and glares intensify.
"Did you attract its attention in any way?"
"No, I was up in the trees. I head back the moment it neared my tree," I reply.
"So you might have lead the beast to the village," oh he did not go there.
"Under the law of Anarya, the failure of protecting our home and being the cause of this incident, you must go out and slay the beast... alone." Grins now replace some of the glares.
I could tell Matt was about to intervene so I laid a hand on his mouth. Screw protecting the faith, I'll protect those I love. Oh, I hope my impulsiveness doesn't make Matt mad.
I take a deep breath.
"So be it,"
what have I done.
