Immortal

Underneath the blazing sky
Tree branches: brown, bony, and sharp like claws of a crow, stand tall above.
A park bench where a mother reads Dr. Seuss books to her intrigued offspring stands in the midst of a frigid breeze wisping through the air. Underneath the pavement; beyond a frozen burial place; where my heart was laid to rest,
10,000 miles in the deep end where
ancestor's bones lay right beside
Trapped; deep down in the dirt where a clear sign of freedom in the depths of my heart and mind is not present anymore..
But underneath the grass that pointed sharply; upwardly towards the sun
Underneath the thick, layered dirt
Underneath all of the stones they threw at me
I'm still breathing.
No matter how hard I have tried,
my mind won't allow me to die.
