"Jermaine Lamarr Cole."
I walked across the stage of my school's auditorium. Terry Sanford to be exact. I was graduating with a 4.2 GPA and off to New York, looking for something better, I wanted something better.
My principal handed me my diploma and I proceeded to my seat, I spotted my mom standing up clapping in the crowd along with my brother, I waved before I sat down.
"Aye J, you hitting up this party afterwards or what?"
"Nah man, I have a flight to catch."
"A flight? Where you going?"
"New York.
"New York? Aye y'all hear this? This nigga say he going to New York."
A couple other guys laughed and I just shrugged it off. I never fought with the guys when it came to talking about our careers, because I knew i'd get somewhere. Instead of taking over they daddy business, I'll be able to buy they daddy business.

"Oh baby, im so proud of you!"
"Thanks mom."
I looked out the window of the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, as we approached the airport my heart felt like it just wanted to drop. I was taking a risk, going to New York not knowing if I even had a chance. Not knowing if I would actually make it.
