Chapter 5

Jai's POV:

That kiss....

That kiss was amazing. I mean it was like my lips were exploding. Fireworks and sparks and all the cringey shit from movies, it's actually real!

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Great.... Daniel.

"Mate, we hit our head on each others because of your fucking screaming. I'm just trying to be a good friend and make sure she's okay." I said skipping the kissing part.

"Bullshit! I watched you two kiss. Jai, how could you? My little sister and my best friend? I can't believe you!" Daniel said with the most disapproving look I think I've ever seen.

"Daniel, I'm 17 I can look after myself. Just be glad I'm actually getting my life back after you took it all away from me. I will do whatever I want. You are not in charge of me and you never will be, the day you turn 18, I'll be 18 too which gives me the freedom to leave you and our pathetic excuses of parents behind. I've let you control me for far too long. You took everything away from me before, you will NEVER take anything away from me again. Whatever happens between Jai and I, or any of the boys for that matter, does not and will not concern you." Liza said to her brother that looked at her in shock. He deserved it though I mean, she's not wrong he did take everything from her.

After a few seconds of silence Daniel composed himself and started fighting back.

"Eliza, our "pathetic" excuses for parents told me to look out for when when they are away which does make me in charge of you. You are not going to speak to me again and whatever this is between you and Jai, will end because if it doesn't, don't you dare think that things won't go back to the way they were. The boys know about you, but nobody else does. Nice try, trying to act all tough and stand up for yourself but it's not going to work. When we turn 18 have fun moving out to be on your own. Once you do you're not coming back here. You have a roof over your head here and you don't have to do shit for it but I mean, hey if you want to ruin it just so you can be with somebody that will leave you after they find out about you then fine, that's your problem, not mine." Daniel stated with a blank face as he proceeded to turn around and walk up the stairs.

I stood there shocked at his harsh words towards her and I was brought out of my trance by Liza falling to the floor, hugging her knees, and sobbing. I carefully sat down next to her and hugged her.

"Hey, no matter what happens, everything is going to be okay, I promise." I said calmly into her ear trying to sooth her. It must've worked because after about 10 minutes her breathing slowed and I could tell she fell asleep.

I picked her up carefully as to not wake her up and slowly made my way out of the kitchen to find that the movie had been turned off and there were no boys left in the living room. I continued up the stairs and into her room and softly laid her down on the bed and covered her with a blanket. I lightly kissed her on the forehead and quietly made my way out of her room and shut the door.

"I don't care, he kissed her-" I heard a hushed voice coming from Daniel's room.

"Daniel! Let them do what they want. Let your sister finally be happy, she deserves some happiness." Luke quietly shot back.

"Yeah but it doesn't need to be with my best friend!" Daniel said, starting to get louder.

"Dude, you made her life hell for the longest time, the least you could do is let her be happy. You treated her like shit in that kitchen, I'll be surprised if she doesn't leave. Whether she has a good life away from here or not, she won't have you treating her like that." Beau stated. He's not wrong.

"You think I don't know that? That girl has been to hell and back, this is the least I could do for her!" Daniel said, raising his voice yet again.

"I'm sure it's not as bad as you think." James stated.

"SHE WAS RAPED AND ABUSED AND I COULDN'T HELP HER! DON'T YOU DARE SAY IT WASN'T AS BAD AS I THINK IT WAS. I WATCHED HER STARVE HERSELF, I WATCHED HER HURT HERSELF, I WATCHED HER TRY TO COMMIT. I'M SORRY THAT I'M TRYING TO BE A GOOD BROTHER A PROTECT HER. IT'S A MIRACLE SHE'S ALIVE!" Daniel shouted at the boys.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING A STORY THAT WASN'T YOURS!" A feminine voice yelled from behind me. I turned around and saw tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.

Daniel's door shot open.

"Liza, I'm so-" Daniel started but he was cut off.

"SAVE IT. YOU KNOW DAMN WELL THAT'S NOT YOUR STORY TO TELL. YOU KNEW DAMN WELL I DIDN'T WANT TO TELL THEM UNTIL I WAS READY, IF EVER. YOU FUCKING KNEW BUT YOU ANNOUNCED IT TO THE FUCKING WORLD. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO FIX THIS. YOU'LL BE LUCKY IF I EVER FUCKING TALK TO YOU AGAIN!" Liza screamed as she spun around and locked herself in her room.

Daniel ran to her door, trying to open it but it was no use. He started pounding on the door as tears started pouring out of his eyes.

I knew what that meant, "Daniel, let me try to get her to open the door." I said in almost a whisper so she wouldn't hear me.

Daniel backed away from the door nodding, I shooed him away indicating that I didn't even want him in the hallway. He took the hint and went into his room, shutting the door.

"Hey Liza, please open the door. I don't think of you any differently than I did 20 minutes ago. I know you're upset at Daniel for telling us but I promise you, none of us would ever dream of thinking of you in a different way. You're still beautiful no matter what your past is. I know, it's hard right now, but I need you to trust me. Everything is going to be okay, please just open the door. I promise you won't have to see Daniel." I said calmly as I leaned my forehead on the door while I tried to get her to open the door.

The doorknob made a clicking sound indicating she unlocked the door.

"Daniel's not there is he?" She asked.

"Nope. Only me, I promise." I said.

The door slowly opened to reveal a tear stained face. I immediately pushed the door open further and walked in, engulfing her in a hug as tears started slipping out of her eyes again. I rubbed small circles into her back trying to calm her down some more.

After a few minutes I let her go as I walked to the door, closing and relocking it before walking back over to her, sitting on the ground with her in my lap, and letting her fall asleep in my arms.
