CHAPTER 19

Take it easy

"Stop Daydreaming Ms. Sanchez."

Isang boses ng lalaki ang narinig ko mula saaking likod. Sir Lauri.

"So-sorry po Sir. Kinakabahan lang po ako sa magiging hatol niyo sa mga pulidong kanta."

Yung totoo hindi naman talaga iyon ang dahilan. Malalim lang talaga ang iniisip ko. Hanggang ngayon iniisip ko pa rin kung papaano humantong sa ganon ang nangyari sa pagitan ni Jad at Matt. Why would Jad go to such extent? Is Matt okay? Magaling sa suntukan si Jad, sana hindi masyado malala ang lagay ngayon ni Matt.

What? Oh come on Mavis! Inaalala mo parin ang lalaking iyon? After all thats happened?

"Easy."

"What Ms. Sanchez? You mean, if I asked you to make another set of songs you could present it tomorrow?"

Shoot. I said that out loud.

"Uh, hindi naman po sa ganon Sir. Ang ibig ko pong sabihin ay easy pong humanap ng inspirasyon sa park kasi po marami doon na mga couples na maari kong pag kunan ng scenario for the songs composition.", I said.

Shoot! Kinakabahan ako. Please sana makalusot ako.

"Ahh, I see.", he answered.

"Okay, Ill ask you to make three more songs. The song must represent the after story, its up to you if youre going to make another love song, or a break up song or better yet a heart-rending song. It depends on what you want to happen if the story has a sequel. If the songs are great then will put it in the deluxe edition of the official soundtrack that will be available in three countries, which where the movie will be showcased. And if not well, I guess Ill just have to find another apprentice that I would bring to Paris."

Paris?! Oh my god! Totoo ba itong naririnig ko?

"You mean Sir I, I will be your apprentice?", I asked giddily.

He nodded. But what does this mean?

"Does this mean Sir, I... You..."

Hinawakan ni Sir Lauri ang ulo ko at tinapik ito ng dalang beses.

"Yes Mavis. Maganda lahat ng ginawa mong kanta, sa sobrang ganda it would be a waste kung hindi made-develop pa ng husto ang talent mo. Youre a talented girl Mavis, youre young and strong-willed. I would like to be an instrument for your success. I have seen many like you Mavis, but you stand out the most. Youre different, but the best kind of different. Itll be a waste to see your career end after this project.", he said while smiling.

I'm lost for words. Hindi ko alam ung anong sasabihin ko, hindi ko alam kung ano ba dapat maging reaksyon ko. PARIS! Im going to Paris! At pupunta akong Paris bilang isang apprentice ng isa sa mgagaling na Music Director sa bansa! I mean, this is too good to be true.

"But, that is if youre going to accept my offer. You could turn down if you want. Alam ko kasing marami ka pang pinoproblema sa buhay mo ngayon. Hindi kita minamadaling sumagot, pwede mong pag isipan. Ang pagiging apprentice ko means youre going to be far away from home for a very long time. All of your expenses are paid by me of course, but still matagal tagal kang mawawala dito sa Pilipinas. Kaya pag isipan mo munang mabuti."

Sir Lauri is right. Hindi ako pwedeng basta bastang mag desisyon. Pero sayang, things are finally turning around. What should I do?

"Sige na Mavis, tapos na tayo sa araw na ito. Bukas mag record tayo ng demos nito para ipa-rining sa mga kakanta. Rest your vocal chords, its time for them to hear your angelic singing voice. Thank you for your hard work. Im leaving first.", he said as waved goodbye.
